I for sure do not have any other firewall software installed - as soon as I quit CIS, Windows XP3 starts complaining about the fact no firewall is running.
I just read about Inspector IIXII on opera.com. However, I'm not going to run the software. Two problems:
- it logs everything, so my privacy is gone
- if the computer does not crash by itself, I have to go to the task manager and click debug. This is really not possible: the computer is irresponsible and I cannot click debug.
So, I need to analyze the problem using other tools. Do you have other ideas? Do I need to analyze something or to change a setting? Hopefully, you can help!
It's gone 12am here and my brain stops functioning at 11,but I'll take a look around for anything that may help.As to specific bugs with C.I.S. there are those here far more qualified than me to help you .Hopefully we can get the attention of one of them.
You've disabled the firewall component of Webroot yes? I'm wondering if there's still a residual process causing a conflict.I can't really see any other likely reason for the 100% issue, other than a Webroot/CIS conflict to be honest.
One further suggestion I can make is to try running A-Squared Hijackfree, then list here every running process associated with Webroot, that might help to shed some light.

Well, I'd uninstall Spysweeper altogether (disabling something doesn't ensure it's really disabled esp. if it loads some sort of driver), reboot and see if the problem is fixed.

To clearify things: the TS (Daniel Jackson) has SpySweeper installed, but I do not have the program. On his computer, cmdagent takes 100% after several minutes
I only have Avast and the problem comes up when starting AoE3. Someone suggested that is related to the access to optical drives. Maybe I should have started another thread, because my problem is different.
edit:
With Comodo Firewall Pro 3.0.25 I never had problems.

If AoE3 is being run with a 'no cd' patch then the optical drives shouldn't be a factor.Did you check the Defence + Events log to see exactly what was happening before the lock up?
A potential workaround ,or at the very least a help in determining the issue would be to install a utility called Process Lasso,it serves the purpose of 'reigning in' any process that's using excessive CPU/RAM resources. This should,at the very least prevent the whole system becoming unresponsive.
One final question, has AoE been patched to the latest version? There may have been a specific bug fixed.

AoE3 is updated to the latest version.
I installed Process Lasso. I computer stayed a little bit responsive, so I was able to shut down AoE. However, cmdagent was, also after closing AoE, staying at 100%. After this, the computer became irresponsible and thus i had to hard reset.
Hopefully, some developer from CIS can look into this.

To clarify things too: I´m having the cmdagent.exe 100% cpu usage problem too with a Quad Core PC, but i´m not using spysweeper not any other resident malware detection software, only CIS (without AV) and Avira AntiVir Premium 8. Also, i´m not playing AoE3 or any other game because this is my work PC.
I already have process lasso installed, so setting cmdagent.exe affinity to just core 0 and its priority to idle solves the unresponsiveness issue until i can reboot.

I just upgraded (via autoupdate) an hour ago. Spent the next hour getting the stupid thing uninstalled after cmdagent locked up the cpu to 100% (seems an old bug is back).

Ugh! My Comodo Firewall Pro updated last night and asked to reboot so I rebooted. Everything started up nicely until I tried opening firefox.exe.
I never opened and my computer became sluggish so I CTRL+ALT+DEL for task manager (took forever) and realized cmdagent.exe is running at 100% CPU. This is the second time this issue has plagued me - the first was with the modified uxtheme.dll which was luckily fixed by the Comodo team.
But now what's this?! I have WinXP SP3 + All updates 32-bit, no other security other than Comodo Firewall with Defense + all set to custom policy, 2.54 Ghz 1 GB RAM

Are you using the firewall in Spysweeper? If so that'll almost certainly be the cause of your problem.
I used only SpySweeper without firewall. But for sure I uninstall SpySweeper and rebooted my computer. But as I connected to the internet, the problem still remains. I thought, that firewall has conflict with Firefox, so I tried Internet Explorer, but without result. Always the same.
I must say, that when I am not connected to the internet, firewall works smoothly (with SpySweeper too). But as soon as I connect to the internet, after several minutes, cmdagent.exe uses again 100% CPU. What do you think, what can cause this issue? Have you any idea? With CFP 3.0.24.368 I do not have this trouble.
Thank you very much.

It's hard to say what exactly is causing this issue without the aid of detailed logs.Did you check the D+ event log in Comodo to see exactly what was happening before the issue occurs? It should at least help to narrow down the cause. With you saying that this only happens after you've been connected to the internet for a while,I wonder if it's an auto-update of another application that's causing this.
The only other option would be to revert back to the previous version for a week or 2,until the next update.

I've looked at the logs and there are no entries. Do I have to change options, so that CIS logs more?
I would really like to help solving this problem, so I will take this inconvenience and hope that, with my help, this problem is over in two weeks. I'm not going to reinstall and old version and in two weeks again for the new version.

So far only Windows XP users seem to have reported this.

It's really strange, Consider my self a XP SP3 user. Only thing I can think of is conflict of security software. Check your start up items guys (Start>Run "msconfig") without the quotes.

I've analyzed my start up items using HijackThis. I did not found any entries to firewall software (besides, I cannot think of another on my computer). Shal I post it here? Furthermore, the problem only comes up with a certain program (a game), which does of course special things other software does not do (like copy protection, DirectX, using GPU, etc). I think CIS cannot handle some of the actions of such a program. I really cannot rule out the possibility this is just a bug in CIS.

If you bring up the D+ events box, then click on 'more' you will be able to access all the relevant logs for each time this problem occurred.Once you can determine the specific event prior to the issue,it should at least find the conflicting process.
