Mine did worse than that this morning. It said I had to restart to apply an update and when I did I was back to DB version 2531! I did a manual update and once again it said I had to restart. That time it was back up to 2702. What gives? Was there another bad update that somehow escaped into the wild?

I'm not sure if my problem is the same as what everyone is having. But I've re-installed my windows before knowing this problem existed, should this not have fixed the problem? because my computer is still crashing  Huh or would I still have to go through the same process of disabling, un-instaling and then re-installing?

Hi Defratos,

Can you expand a bit on the "crashing" and post a bit more system details so we get an idea of what's going on?

Alternatively, you can manually download the latest bases.cav file from http://download.comodo.com/av/updates311/sigs/bases/BASE_END_USER_v2895.cav and replace the problematic bases.cav with this version.

This is the really frustrating thing about Comodo - have some great ideas in desktop security but the implementation is poor and for these past few years I have felt that I am continually using alpha or beta test software.

Finally after continuing to have the 90-100% CPU problem still this past couple of weeks and following all the database replacement instructions, re-installing the software, etc, I still had the problem and so regretably I removed Comodo from my business laptop.

Now I am having to trust Outpost firewall and Avast antivirus to protect me, and considering to use Threatfire once again but I had problems with it conflicting with Firefox and Avast in the past.

I hate to operate a windows laptop without D+ but I really have no option because the system became unuseable during this cmdagent cpu hog problem. I have used several other antivirus detectros and rootkits checks and they say my system is clean.

Please please please Comodo remember that for all of us life is quite short and we do not have time to experiment and play around with software.

I do not know if your paid service would have made any difference and people more expert than me might have fixed this problem that I could not, but I am unwilling to pay for a product unless I am highly confident that it can really do the job consistently well. If you had a longer trial then may be I would be swayed, but like I said, life's a bit short and I have a small business to run!

Today 18 november I have the same problems, after the update and restart the system XP pro II locks up totaly. Taskmanger can't be opened. Only system hardware reset works.

Before reading this message I have uninstalled comodo and installed the latest release  3.13.119746.572 .
After the restart it all worked well again.
But after installing the update's the system locks up again after the restart.

I will now try the manual replace of the bases.cav file in save mode.
But if this works must I in the future always have to download this file manual and replace it in save modes?

I will update the "fix" result here maybe someone can reply on my question or have other comments about this porblem I have?

you know that theres a problem with cav in the new version and with older amd processors?
they say you should disable the "memory scan on start" in cav. and dont make scans.
if you want to stay with cav, you have to eat that apple, until its fixed.

How on earth are we meant to know such important things unless we live on these forums!!??

I guess the message is not to upgrade if all is working OK?

But Comodo would do well to to send an email to all registered users to warm them of "new features" like this which may screw up people on older computers

No. Before downloading the program update make a copy of the file in another directory and then copy it back after the update. You will then need to update the AV database from the main screen so the program recognizes the definition file.

Well I have exucuted the two options (disabled memory scan and cav file replacement) and it seems to work. System doesn't hang after startup. Fingers crossed when updating in the future
