Hi Everyone,
Officially we do not support 64-bit for web based scanner as of now.
The last release may not work on 64-bit and you may get error 0011.

We are coming up with a newer version shortly to support 64-bit OS.

Thanks

Could you guys insted of blocking unsupported browsers, just come with a warning then have something like "go back" and "continue anyway" buttons, it will help unsupported browsers to check what they maybe can improve or maybe the unsupported browsers work anyways.

I met 2 issue by using WebScanner.
1. Unable to update the signature data base thru proxy server.
Don't know reason why. Update screen halt.

2. Direct connection by dial-up, and can not finish the update.
Question 2.1:  Althought the update was in progress, but everytime when it update to 3M, then 2nd channel updating start.
It confuses me. why 2 channel update for full signature db?
Question 2.2: updating db sige up to aournd 4M, then firewall said
"dwwin.exe was allowed to be executed previously. However a New Parent Application, iexplorer.exe, is detected, and it could not be recognized. Once the application is executed, its parent will have the full control over its execution. If iexplorer.exe is one of your everyday applications, you can safely  allow this request."
          => allow this request
          => block this request
          ....

Not matter select "Allow" or "Block" this request, update windows was disappeared. Then I can not complete this task. Therefore fail to do webscan.

CIMA itself won't be, however there will be a similar CIMA engine developed for end users and will be embedded in CIS.

thanks
Melih

I have tried to use the Comodo online scan a few times now, and get the same error.
It is:
"Error code 0032
Update failed, insufficient access to the download folder."

I'm running VISTA and ie7. No users created, just as it came on this new Compaq/HP machine.
I have noticed I had to run my Eudora mailer "as admin" but there's no "run as admin" right-click offered for your free scan link.

I assume I would have the same problems trying to install any Comodo product.

HELP!

Hi and welcome Rhytonen,

I think you have mistaken the web scanner you were using with CIMA, which is a different service, so I have moved your post.

The web scanner needs admin rights to install and to update (the latter is unfortunate but the former is unavoidable). If you are asked for admin log-in, or you get a UAC popup, do comply.

If the installation fails without such, try right-cliking on IE's shortcut (the special object in the desktop may not do, try the regular shortcut in the Start menu), and selecting "run as...", then log in as admin, then go to Comodo web scanner's site, install and everything.

(WARNING: You must not use a thus admin-enabled IE session to surf the web except when necessary and in trustworthy websites. After you are done with the installation from a TRUSTED source, always CLOSE that IE session and start another regular one if you want to surf. Opening a new window from the admin-enabled session will still have you admin-enabled, close and double-click again wherever you usually do. Do not surf the Web admin-enabled, or you may get easily infected.)

You may also be asked about installing ActiveX content, do accept (or set the scanner's website as trusted in IE).

Please abide by the forum policy, thanks!
Moderators don't speak on behalf of Comodo unless so stated.
XP users check this to secure your PCs. Vista/7 users do not disable UAC.

It has been a while since many have used the Comodo Web Scanner.

I know signature updates had been kept up to date.  But with CIS and its malware scanner, I wondered if the new signature base has or will soon be incorporated, as well as any improvements in the scanning engine, and CIMA, etc.

Melih,

Quote

Currently the term shown is AVscanner, will this be updated with the next beta release OR with the full release to show Malware Scanner to include rootkits, trojans, worms, keyloggers, viri etc. besides other malware that may be created and discovered in the future.

A suggestion: Could   after the scan, a link for ThreatCast or/and CIMA results be added,
and also an option that would be located in the WebScanner file that is stored on the HD for exceptions the user would like to skip.  In my instance I have Evid as tool that I sometimes need to reinstall.

Thanks

Melih,

Just updated the Comodo Online AV Web Scanner,

First thing I noticed is that the new database has been installed. Several Several Million bytes in size and at a 3 MB download speed took between 20 and 30 mintutes to download.
But the scan was fast !  The time I am guessing was less than 1/3 of what it used to take.  Very Good!!

But looking at the download time, I paused and wondered about those that might only have a simple phone line to connect to the internet.

1) Wonder if you put together a Comodo Think Tank on how to improve the typical connection problems those with phone lines always need to put up with.  This would also improve all others.

Two ideas I wondered about are
 A)  In Cloud Scanning, the Engine and its updates would be on the PC but the Signatures would be on the Commodo servers.

B) Comodo could look at all the various Download Managers and look at what is missing and create a Comodo download manager.

It could incorporate some solutions that are already around, such as utilizing more 1/2 ports per download, breaking up Comodo Files and utilize a transfer similar to a utorrent download only Comodo's downloads would come from one server only divided into multiple files.

Also I wonder how many caught this from Mirosoft on how to increase download sessions in Microsoft IE to 10
 http://blogs.technet.com/fixit4me/archive/2009/01/02/enable-10-internet-explorer-download-sessions-fix-it-live.aspx

C)  Noticed that two large players in the browser competition were missing from those that are supported from the online scanner.  Those 2 are Google Chrome and Safari.

D) I know the difference between CIS and CIS Pro, but noticed a reference to CIS Pro Plus.
I am not sure what is the difference ?

Edit:  Thought CIS was the basic package and Pro contained the online support and extra features.  Not sure how I got that wrong, Plus is the one that includes the Online Support and Extra's. and Pro is the basic package.  CIS by itself is ??

Thanks  UncleDoug

This would only slow things down...

I tried twice.

Internet Explorer 8, Windows XP SP3.

I hope it will soon be compatible with Opera 10.

(I use Opera 10, 1622.)
