Rated 4
For nice improvement in antivirus database, 3.8 works nicely, before in 3.5 there was bug i was facing that when virus database failed to update the virus database becoming 0, which is being fixed by 3.8 version for me, this new version running nicely than 3.5 version.
Also one thing for rating it 4 as comodo team looking at users problem and responding to them and fixing bugs very quickly so big thanks for that.
There are many things to improve.
1. currently CAV gives many false positives thats the first initiative.
2. Virus database size is big at times Reducing them down in small segments will be good idea.
3. Updates having resume feature
4. option in CAV Real-time scanner to check archieve files when they are downloaded from net or from anywhere, because mostly virus are hidden in archieves, I understand it might be seen as waste of resources by some people,
so by default this option should be unchecked, the only people who want to scan archieve files in real-time scanner can turn it on by putting checkmark in that box.
Thanks all again comodo team rocks Angel  ilovecomodo

CIS is getting better and better every update but still need some changes to be perfect Wink IMHO what should be changed/added in neewer versions to improve program efficacy is:

1) CIS should have any kind of self defence system. It's very easy to kill the process. Any virus can do it with no problem... This is very important, because of this depends system safety. You may say HIPS resolves the problem. Yes, but not every one uses it. Nag screens are very annoying Smiley I depend on proactive defence system like AV and Antispyware. These days everything should be automatic Tongue

2) CIS should have some anti-spyware component. It is internet security packet, so it got to have it to be complete. I heard that you are working on adding boclean to CIS. That would be great! Boclean is great program but that startup scan is REALY slowing down system startup and it's a bit annoying and long time ago there was no update. PLS add an option to disable startup scan in future and change it's archaic look Smiley

3) AV is evolving but still it stays behind competitive programs like Avira, Avast! and AVG (free versions). It should have some more options like mail scan etc. CAV is quite fresh and new product and it still needs more improves, changes and updates (less FP's, more options to configure etc) but everything is going in good way.

I know... I'm complaining, but it would be really nice if options like that would be added. Anyway great job!

EDIT:
I reminded one thing with the CAV. Once it went "disable" and i could't make it "enable". I could change it to "enable" status, but when I tried to scan folder it said "Antivirus Engine not initialized". System restart helped, but it's a serious error :/

1. CIS protects it's own files from alteration through 'My Protected Files' by default. Also, the cfp.exe process (which I assume is the own you are terminating) is only the GUI. If cfp.exe is terminated, CIS is still protecting your computer, because the cmdagent.exe service should still be running Wink

2. CIS already detects spyware. The antivirus is designed to detect every type of malware. The detection rate is growing substantially on a daily basis. IMO it should be renamed to Anti-Malware, instead of Antivirus. BOClean will be completely redesigned when it is implemented into CIS (in mid-late March). The resource usage will very light Wink

3. A mail scanner is completely unnecessary for the protection of your computer, since any malicious attachments are scanned by the CIS real-time scanner when they are opened, and if you are about to forward them. Essentially, mail scanners like the one in avast, are useless. See here for more details:

and

https://forums.comodo.com/anti_virus_help/email_scanning-t31031.0.html;msg223202#msg223202

Hope this helps Smiley

A mail scanner is very necessary, because you can infect others if you only forward infected message. Is'nt enough to scan only on acces to be well protected against malware...

I agree with beanie, nice to see CIS becoming very great product with less annoying pop-ups, many new things added to it, i like to say CIS antivirus is becoming as good as avast and avira, as it has hearuistic it became stronger, still giving FP but its fine.
Yes and CIS detects spywares too, it can be trusted also.

The CIS real-time scanner scans everything the moments it hits the hard-disk, AFAIK providing protection against infected e-mails.

I voted a 4 rating. Still too many false positives. Heuristics needs further work.

I would also like to see a scan log implemented to indicate that a scan (scheduled or manual) has successfully run. The log should provide a high level summary of the results (number of files scanned, how many incidents were found and what action was taken).

Thanks COMODO Team and cheers everyone.

Hehe true, true Smiley I can't kill cmdagent.exe, but when I tried few versions ago I was able to do it (some time ago, can't remember when or what version).

Nice suprise for me! I didn't know that CAV also detects spyware. So for now I'm just waiting for boclean implementation and less FP's Smiley

Gave it a 4

There are a handful of features I would still like to see added (most of which are planned for 4.0), and I'm still unsure about how antivirus holds up compared to other more experienced products.

Too many FP for my taste, but it's better than getting infected.

I vote  Angry  1   Angry

Because of the Policy Issues that cause multiple issues, mostly in x64 platforms, but a lot in x86 (32 bit) platforms as well.

The largest issues are primarily in the Network protocols and policies, but many other issues in active account settings and policies.

3.8 was released way to soon. It should have stayed in beta mode till all the bugs reported were dealt with.

True, true Smiley Sometimes I have to reinstall CIS and del it's folder to get defaults.

P.S.
Did you noticed, that when CIS updated from 3.5 to 3.8 there were no automatic information or popup with changelog or new features? When new component is added (like CAV long time ago), using auto update CIS installs automaticly with it's old configuration, so when new component is avaible we don't have it and we don't even know about it, unless we check it on forum changelog or try to reinstall CIS. You feel me? Smiley
New features avaible with new versions of CIS are unavaible when you auto-update it and you don't have any clue that it's even avaible Tongue

I'm very impressed with CAV 3.8. I had a lot of false positives with previous versions especially with portable software and now none. Last night I scanned my entire computer with CAV blazing speed and no portable software reported as false positives.

I have a malware (virii) collection of 500 bad guys that I scanned with CAV 3.8. CAV in 2 seconds caught over 425 of them, such a speed is probably equal to the speed of light  Grin. The rest I'll send to Comodo for analysis and addition to the malware database.

From this day forward I'll put all the big boys such as Avira, Kaspersky, Norton, BitDefender, Avast etc on notice that there is a new product in town breathing down your necks and that product is CAV 3.8

Peace.
