Regarding Prevention as a first layer of security

There is mention of classical blacklisting detection approaches limits in the following articles.

'Whitelisting' Repairs Broken Anti-Malware Model
Security experts look to 'whitelisting' future

These could be also used as reference to mention CIS whitelist which in the wikipedia article has been claimed as a recent addtion to the latest CIS beta.

As for the need of HIPS I guess Matousec could be reference ad a source although it didnt explicitly mention HIPS but host protection features
This project examines personal firewalls, Internet security suites and other similar products for Windows OS that implement process-based security. We call all such products personal firewalls. In our opinion, personal firewalls should prevent spying and data and identity theft. So, we require personal firewalls to include host protection features too.

HIPS: Host-Based Intrusion Prevention Systems is likewise a less known source but newerthless it address the protection span HIPS are meant to provide

Thanks to Wikipedia, this feels like a utter disaster, maybe we should call it quits... and wait until CIS becomes even better before trying it again, and make a rough, and final draft of it on the forum.

You guys have done an excellent work!

All you need to do is follow wikipedia guideline  in wording... everything else looks great.. you can even look at other provider's entry wikipedia like norton internet security etc to see what wording they have used so that we can use learn the language...

great work!

Instead of just writing stuff from our heads, this is what we should do: Make a section in Overview-CIS called " Overview of CIS-Wikipedia Style", and pile up all the ideas and then apply it to Wikipedia.

I have a better idea: make a sub-board called "Wiki" or something.  Then give us advanced members (including me Grin) mod powers just for that sub-board. Angel  Then we can make a kinda "wiki" guide here (and not in Wikipedia.  But if you want, we could also copy the info from this "wiki" to Wikipedia.). Bounce

Your idea is abit like CLOSED, in other words, there should be a compromise in our idea that includes OPEN wiki development, that any can join, but only the members can edit.

WIKI is a public site, so too should be it's opinions and those who make it...
Let's go back to school on this one, Write a rough draft, Post it here and ask other members for corrections just before it goes public on WIKI.

Maybe Comodo could host a Wiki about Comodo and it's programs, and help for them!  This could be an answer to the guide problem we had (but I don't know too much about)!

There already is a Comodo Wiki. Its fallen flat on its face twice, for lack of support. Toggie and myself were supposed to be Proj. Managers.  Toggie, disappeared to deal with some personal crisis and I have not seen him since.

I even PMed some users in the past and told them if they would write a section and put it in word I would chang it to wiki code.  Most said they were waiting for a final/stable release of Comodo. and they did not want to contribute yet.

Someone named Kander and myself were working on it but that stopped in November/December 2007.
It is more than a 2 person job.

Gibran did some work on "General Internet Security\Home PC and Internet Security Best Practices‎"

Grue155 is the last person to work on it I think he has several How to's tha last was added 20 September. 2008

If you all want to work on it we can get you access I think. You might PM Melih and ask, but I suggest first reviewing it and decide if you want to put in the Work.  You will have to learn wiki code

Good luck
