I'm asking a version related question: are there known security issues addressed by this 3.10 release as against the version I am currently using: 3.9.95478.509
I wasn't reporting a bug, albeit I did describe my situation. I don't care if it's a bug because it seems to be afflicting no one else. I just want to know if I am safe in sticking with my current version or if I am exposing myself to vulnerablities.
Hi gcaleval,
Even there are no “visible security issues” addressed in the changelog concerning XP SP3 you are running, as you stated, the following:
Quote
FIXED! Firewall does not show some connections under high load
FIXED! Firewall sometimes causes the PC to freeze in windows XP 32
FIXED! cfp.exe crashes when HIPS alerts timeout
would probably be a good reason for upgrading, because virtually in some circumstances you may get into such troubles, despite currently you are not affected.
That's how I see it.
My regards

release notes not updated / can't export config

Just got a notice from Comodo that an update is ready - clicked on the link for details -
http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/release_notes.html
- this shows the release I already have! I see here there is a later one - how about updating the release notes page, or dumping it?
So - I lost my config at the last update - figure I will do an export this time - but it says I have to run as administrator. Meaning run ... what? Comodo? Found a forum link says to turn off UAC. Which requires a reboot ...
Comodo getting to be more trouble than it's worth.
Are these problems solved if I *pay* for this?

i'm about to install it on this OS, (fresh install after HD crash so the system is working very fast actually), will report bug if i find any.
windows 7 is very close, rtm on july 13, and comodo v4 will be the answer for this new OS ? ;-)
is comodo 3.10 officially designed to support windows 7 ?

Re: COMODO Internet Security 3.10.101801.529 Released
I've been seeding two ubuntu torrents for more than 12 hours now.
Tested on a XP SP3 (post SP3 patches included) 32bit, without any unofficial patch/hack and CIS 3.10.102194.530 full W/O other 3rd party security software. The PC dates back to 7 years ago.
Windows media player has been running all along (and still is) playing a loop of few MP3s.
Among other activities, websurfing and downloading have been carried and thus far the DPC latencies never shown an increase of the baseline average latency which, despite the continued activities, is below 500 microsec.
Reported absolute maximum has been 6327 microsec though this is unrelated to the issue as reported whereas some users experienced an increase of baseline latencies after few hours.
As far as I know, the latency problem never occurred with XP. It was only an issue on systems running Vista, especially the 64 bit version.

Hi guys.
Installed 3.10.102194.530 clean on my XP pro SPK 3. Firewall and Maximum Proactive Defence, nice, not even one popup
. Everything seems to be running smoothly
but
Spysweeper. Scans went from 7 mins. to 25 mins. I will make a note in the bug report and D+ section, and there is a small lag logging first time in Internet.
BTW. Is there something missing in Network Policy/Application Rules
It has only Comodo Internet Security and Windows Updater application rules already, but I would swear that there was something else in 3.9 when first installed.
Thank you guys. Waiting for 4.

I also lost all my settings and above that also had a complete mouse lock-up even if I reboot my comp.
But before I autoupdate CIS I did a complete registry backup with ERUNT which I restore in safe mode after CIS was updated when everything went wrong.
And after that restore of registry from ERUNT everything runs and is running OK. Funny.

i have meaning to bring this issue up for some time now. it would be nice if comodo could come up with a key sequence to allow your mouse driver on a new install of comodo. very annoying. i know the keyboard shortcuts, but comodos pop up wont let you access the allow or deny. it really needs fixing. i usually have to wait the 2 minutes for the pop up to go away, then i quickly go into comodo and trust the driver before it pops up again. very annoying. a lot of people might not know what to do in that case...please come up with a keyboard shortcut to the pop up window

You don't know far enough, then. In the old thread, some people reported the same problems in both XP and XP 64. Vista was common, yes, but there may have been another reason for that fact (for example adoption rates).

Endymion,
The people experiencing this problem are running Window Vista or Windows 7.
Our guess is that changes in the network stack done in Vista and carried over into Win7 are somehow involved in this problem.
Since Windows XP still uses the original network stack the problem doesn't seem to occur there.
So thanks for you test, but it doesn't prove a thing regarding this problem.
BTW: I was originally contacted by egemen regarding testing for this issue (when it was again happening in version 3.9), but he indicated to me that they (he and the developers) had been able to reproduce the problem.
So anybody who jumped on Delphin for "not coorporating" with the developers should keep this in mind. We (the people experiencing this issue) are and were willing to work with the devs, but they indicated that they had been able to reproduce this issue and our help was no longer needed.
So please get of you high horse about our unwillingness to help and belittling this problem.
Thank you.
BTW: I want to thank Melih for his active support for us and taking our problem serious. Hopefully we can all work together to make sure that this issue is fixed and we can all enjoy using Comodo Firewall Pro.

Thanks. I got that to work.
But now I have to ask: I downloaded the new version. Launched it - says "CIS already installed - do you want to un-install or add/remove components" I click Yes - I get Config Wizard - Add/Remove is selected - click Next - Install Firewall is selected (that's all I am running - not AV) - click Next - nothing happens.
Am I supposed to change the first Wizard window from Add/Remove to Uninstall? And I don't mean to be sarcastic, but - how am I supposed to know that?

PJK, did you notice that Delphin
himself
posted the issue pertained XP too? (
it was just above your post
)

As for the test I carried, it is still unclear to me, since XP has been involved as well, if it could be implied that XP users shouldn't test DPC latencies with 3.10, along with those with Vista that don't experience the same issue
anymore
(
edit:
just in case I won't post those results in the related topic)

Already had a quick chat with him.
He said he didnt need help for now
unless I would still report the bug
.
Whenever it could be reasonable to assume that in case an user is able to reproduce an issue again with a new version, additional (and detailed) feedback would be welcomed.
And AFAIK it should have been reasonable to assume that testing
each
new version and providing an updated and detailed report would be among the lines of a cooperative and constructive
factual
contribution.

The problem is, we need it fixed, not "improved".
I haven't tested it myself
, but I'm inclined to believe the other forum user who says the issue persists. It's a critical problem for my PC usage habits,
that's why I can't tolerate even an "improved" scenario.

Now please,
again
I invite everybody who still didn't test 3.10 to actually not
belittle
developers efforts and acknowledge their already
proved
commitment to bugfixing.

Hi Guys,
If any of you have a steady way to reproduce this and is willing to work with me so that we can diagnose the issue, please PM me your MSN or EasyVPN id.
Thanks for your cooperation,
Egemen
EDIT:
Detailed troubleshooting/reporting steps have been provided in the corresponding topic.
