 Huh This is for languy99. No disrespect, but where did you get 5million sigs for Avira from?. I have Avira premium on my laptop as a back up scanner and if you do a scan and check the logs it says, scanning for 1.365 million thereabouts not 5million.I stand to be corrected and await someones reply, as Jowa is waiting also.

I also have avira, what I do is go to the program folder for avira. Then open up the failsafe folder. In there you should have the files named antivir0.vdf, antivir1.vdf, antivir2.vdf and antivir3.vdf. These are the same files that are updated when you get new subscriptions. I open them with notepad. In antivir0 = 992,796 signatures, antivir1 = 1,240,990, antivir2 = 1,355,388 and antivir3 = 1,365,100. Add them together and you get 4,954,274 signatures. I my guess was a little off. I knew it was really close to 5 million, I though they had gone over lately.

I wonder if there is any difference between sigs of boclean and cavs. If not, than CIS has also around 5 million signatures! I am wondering where COMODO bought these signatures? Is there some kind of signature marketplace? Anyway it is good to see CIS ON it's way to the top! THe amount of signatures is important for an av, but we still don' t know how other av's count their signatures and if a signature covers many different variants, besides this we have to see CIS in many different comparitives tests to judge it is up to the challenge to defeat the leaders in the av industry.

You can buy signatures from other companies, but that's not what Comodo did. Comodo got so many sigs, because so many people are submitting malware + they use their own honeypot systems etc.

That's what is most important, they should rely on their selves, not on their users / supporters too much.

Simply awsome.. The big boys have to watch out when CIS gets its heuristic.. =)

One question thou, If I send files through CIMA (something I usually do when submitting).. Not always are baddies rated suspicious, Do they still get processed and checked by a comodo employee?

Or is it better to email those CIMA misses?

.. =)

All goes to COMODO analysts. So if you have submitted by CIMA, it will get in our hands.

Thanks

How many updates per day comodo do now?
Rigth now once a day. Starting from 1st half of May, 2009 there will be multiple updates in a given day and finally every 30min, which is the final target. We are trying to make this happen asap so users can be protected in fastest possible way.

Wow, imagine your AV updating every 30 mins.  That could be quite annoying seeing the message: Comodo AV has updated every 30 mins haha!  I'd imagine there would be some sort of control setting over how often Comodo AV checks for an update though.

Unpopular AntiVirus software did this.

There are a lot of AVs that start with 'A'.  Grin  Avira, Avast, AVG, etc.

Hi,

Depending on the type, the Adware/Spyware such applications are detected under ApplicUnsaf ( Unsafe application) (or) ApplicUnwnt (Unwanted application) categories. Fraud tools are detected under ApplicUnsaf category normally.

Regards,
Baskar.
