Latest Database Version:   2057
Release Date (all times GMT):   22-Aug-2009 12:50:20
Total Definitions:   5 695 149

Latest Database Version:   2855
Release Date (all times GMT):   6-Nov-2009 00:27:55
Total Definitions:   5 630 878

Definition count is indeed decreasing along with the increase of detected samples, though it appear than to halve the definition number will require a reasonable amount of time.

Indeed it looks this topic span slowly changed along the way bringing forth queries and comments about the DB size/definitions number.

Well, it's quite obvious that a huge database isn't the way to go...

I just look at how well Malwarebytes does with a tiny database. Just over 3MB! Shocked That is what Comodo needs to shoot for. Not this giant bloated monstrosity that just ends up wasting everybody's time and locks up their system when it updates...

think about how many new definitions are added daily, it is hard work just keeping it static and keeping it from getting bigger.
