A great improvement, that's the right way.

Yes Trojans and other things like malicious JPEG, GIF,s and PDF,s, DLL's., ActiveX's and Fake webpages and so on (look at Picture) . I would say that about 35% to 45% of all the malware i submit daily will be caught by the Server Heuristics. And about 5% to 15% can be by caught by the current Heuristics on CIS.

On record I have over 545 Heur.Suspicious (all malware) Detections since the 11th (June) this month It is my recommendation that until the Heur.Suspicious are added to the Database permanently, You should have the Heuristics on Default, low.

If you have a FP Submit them!

Edit: The Heur.Suspicious under other on the update page does not refelect the true amount of Heur.Suspicious added for that database, i think its a ratio 1:30.

Most likely, it's something to do with the new family signatures in 3.10.

Hi Guys,
Updates have been resumed. For CIS 3.9 users AV updates have been frozen at V1538 and they must switch to CIS 3.10 to avail further updates.

Thanks

I haven't been following this thread at all lately. Can someone confirm that updates actually are released every hour 24/7 now? Thanks.

Your word "expect" will eventually make at least 10,000,000 signatures.

Actually I'd expect to see a substantial reduction in the number of signatures with the new format.

I hope future versions of CIS won't have the design gap that when the update is running the AV can't detect anyting (Signature version is 0 then).

A developer comment would be welcome.

Yes this is being worked on and updating will be different in the upcoming versions(not in 3.10).

Has there been an improvement in this gap? I notice now that while CIS updates, the database version number in the 'About' section doesn't revert to 0 anymore, like in past versions.

Cangrats on this!

Been watching bases.cav in C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\scanners and it seems to be going down... Very very slowly. Yesterday bases.cav was 99MB, Today it's 97MB and noticing only generic signatures are being added.

It seems the clean up is making some sort of progress, Unless I'm being paranoid. Am I paranoid Melih/Umesh?  Grin

Cheers,
Josh

remember to get the real size you have to right click/ proprieties and use the number listed under size on disk. But it has gone down there too, about 1MB or so. Now it is 103,464,960 and before it was 104,....... and I don't remember the rest.
