That new version of Comodo firewall is looking mighty good, are they all the features in it or are some still to be added.  Either way good work, look forward to it and as long as its user friendly for the less experienced it should be great

Hi! First: excellent FW with nice features. Here's my short list of what could be improved;

- log features, sorting or user setting to create filters. Some log warnings = high, medium etc. it's not easy to filter out the 'high',
- Network Control Rules, -copy rule- button. Sometimes you just want to create 1 rule and copy 2nd, 3rd etc. rules only changing PROTOCOL/DIRECTION. It speeds up creating custom rules,
- User interface could be cleaner with respect to information pages. I have no idea when I choose apply 'all' and see 1-to many notifications behind.

That's all for now!

Remy.

I have been using Comodo Firewall for 6 months now. Before Comodo, I used ZoneAlarm and Ashampoo (break the word apart and you'll see my opinion of them too!) But I have to say, Comodo is one I reccomend to anyone who needs a strong firewall. I see no issues with the Firewall, and let me be one of those people to say I reccomend you FULLY over any other.

I rate CFP very high in security, but very low in ease-of-use.

The learning mode is way too tweaky. You must continuously accept such 100% trusted apps as Forte Agent and Maxthon, an dactually go to the CFP configuration to shut it up.

I'm exceptionally patient, but the people I know will reject the program out of hand if it nags them that much.

Something MUST BE DONE to make the training more user friendly.

Also, it appears that network proteciton is "all or nothing". I don't want to allow or disallow all network activity. I trust certain MAC addresses 100%, and distrust all other MAC addresses 100%. Why not just have an easy way to enter MAC addresses of trusted network computers?

Thanks for a great free program,,,  (R)

couldn't agree more bobad...
I think in general what the program provides is excellent it just
needs to be more user friendly for novices such as I.

If you're referring to Log entries for blocked Inbound connections, they are already blocked, and will remain so until you create rules to Allow Inbound connects that match these attempts.

If the log entries are frustrating and you don't want to see them, it's easy enough to create some rule(s) to block w/out logging for just those that you want to.  There's info within this thread that will help you do that:

It is promised by Melih dat da final CPF3 will be a lot more user-friendly and less pop-ups for well-known apps.

I add my vote to the request (somewhere) that a panic button that closes all port traffic down be added.  A real-time port traffic viewer with an indication of transfer volume would be a treat.  I have a router with a hardware firewall, so my main concern is outgoing connections.  Possibly a separate internet connection monitor apart from the port monitor would be possible?  Rootkits can stealth a port and it would be nice to have an indication of hidden activity.
I have another request - when the pop-up asking about whether to allow a connection is dismissed, return the focus to the application that was interrupted.  If I am using the keyboard, it is a nuisance to have to pick up the mouse and click on the title bar or whatever.
I lied.  Another request.  Change the name of the "Source" and "Destination" tabs in the network monitor new rule dialog.  Make them "My Computer" and "Remote Address".  It is confusing for us newbies to have to figure out that when you change the traffic direction from "out" to "in", my computer changes from "Source" to "Destination".  Yes, it makes sense if you  think about it, but it is still a source of confusion.
Oh yes, while I'm at it...  I had a problem finding the IGMP protocol because it really is a "Detail" of an IP protocol.  The message that described the blocking of a connection only mentioned IGMP - no mention of IP protocol.  Either add all the IP details to a sub-menu of the IP listing on your protocol selection menu or change the message about the blocked connection to say "IP(Detail:IGMP) protocol" so people can find the entry on your rule creation dialog.

Voted 4
After few days testing.
Efficient (or supposed to be), no problems so far, very nice and clear interface,
But some difficulties in config, and missing or difficult features.

Good Firewall, provided you are a medium or advanced user. For nooby or children... wait for next version?

Free software is not always best

trialled the software for a few days and regularly had to reboot as no internet access, seems to have a blocking effect on utorrent, so when get up in the morning, not a lot is happening to it

still using the verification engine thing, that does work Smiley

when playing halo, it lets me run a server but broadcasts the local ip address 10.?.?.? instead of the external ip, so no-one will ever see it

gone back to agnitum pro, costs $40 per year, but it seems to work, will recheck the stuff that did not work with commodo in the mean time

I rated it a 4, i really like Comodo, it was easy to use (For me atleast) and has a nice interface. Also good firewall options. I am pleased...

To a certain extent.

However, i do have one issue, or rather, one problem:

Comodo seems to lock up after a certain period of time has passed. I doubleklick on the icon in the messagetray but nothing happens. Rightklick and the menu pops up but doesn't display anything. Also, when i check cpf.exe in the process window i see that it has suddenly started eating my CPU, making the computer slow. And i can't shut it down either since it displays a message saying it has been locked by the system.

I'm gonna search trought the forums to see if anyone has this problem or similar. I just wanted to notify you the developers, of this. Other than that, i am really pleased with Comodo, and i will continue my support. (L)
