The updater wasn't working yet in that early version.  You can export your current settings from "miscellanious/manage my configurations" and download the latest version 3.0.19.318.  The installer should first uninstall your current version, then ask you to reboot.  You can then install the new version, and reboot again.  It should be possible to import your previous settings, but there have been enough changes over 6 versions that I wouldn't count on it being the best solution.  But you can try by using "import as" and making it a separate file.  Manage my configurations "select: will allow you to toggle between configurations, so you can see how well it works for you.  I would personally use the latest default configuration  version and go from there.  There are a lot of configuration fixes in the newest version.  Smiley

"I should have exported my settings then imported them...", huh? Well, the announcement said you could upgrade over the old version without any problems.
This answer is what I expected.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't have time to help develop this product.
This is how company's lose customers.
Going to uninstall and give Online Armor a try.
I also have noticed like others have reported in other parts of this forum a significant slowdown in my network speed.
I did speed tests with and with Comodo running and saw a difference in speed every time.
Lots of luck!

 Angry

if u want to give a try with OA cause of probs slowdown speed with comodo, i have to tell u that on xp, when OA is running and i'm sending a file to my other pc using HFS on local network, when OA is ON my speed transfert is aproximative 7000ko/s. when OA is turned OFF the speed goes up to 11000ko/s. when i use comodo i got no speed slow down, still transferring at 11000ko/s.
that's strange that u got speed troubles with comodo but with OA i can tell that it slows down my transfert from 11000KB/S to 7000KB/S. what is a lot.

updater worked like a charm.
What you mean? Do you have "new improved security settings" after build-in update procedure?

Thank you very, very much for your effort.
And please developers make complete changelog, because after update I dont have above changes, must do it manually as goodbrazer sugested.

Well, you shouldn't be forced to add this manually. Any decent application with built-in updater should do it for you, but not CFP  Roll Eyes .

I updated via the internal updater directly from 3.0.18 and don't have anything those Shocked Sad

This is a known issue. I was first time mentioned in November last year. I don't know if the current saving settings format has some limitations and it can't be done, but if it is  the case then Comodo should rewrite this part of CFP.  I'm surprised it hasn't been fixed for almost 4 months. But what is more surprising to me is that whoever actually wrote this part of CFP didn't think about how he would actually update predefined protected files/registy rules at the first place  Roll Eyes .

I know CFP is for free and nobody force me you use it. Well, I use CFP since version 2.x more than a year and I really get to used to it, but the direction CFPv3 is going definitely differs from my expectations. The fact that something is free doesn't mean we should take it without asking questions.

All is fine here...

It would be nice to mention what exactly changes took place. If i'm right, existing config cannot be upgraded (to cover more resources) during update.

If so, there are three ways:
1. starting to build computer security policy from scratch (because you want to protect more resources anyway)
2. not paying attention about protecting more resourses
3. find out manually, comparing each setting one by one

Anyway, here are new resources that i found out (in case someone will find it useful), though only developer knows for sure, i only guessing:

- new group under "my protected files": Windows Management, which contains entry \Device\NamedPipe\atsvc (to add it to your settings, simply copy-paste title)

- group Windows Management under "my protected com interfaces" contains new entry {5CE34C0D-0DC9-4C1F-897C-DAA1B78CEE7C}

- group important keys under "my protected registry keys" contains new entry *\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID*

- minor change: group "all applications" -> access rights -> interprocess memory accesses -> ask, allowed applications: %windir%\system32\ctfmon.exe
Thank you for your post I thought if I downloaded the full version instead of using the updater I would still have the new settings after importing my config file.
It appears all the settings are included in the config file so the new settings disappeared.
So I had to add them manually thank you for your instructions.
Dennis
EDIT That will teach me for not reading your full post did not see (1) plus sentence at the top.  Grin

Thats has been a problem from the start of 3.0. Sometimes its dead center and other times its off to the left or right or top or bottom. NOD32 did this to me also.

Hi Guys,
Dragon Gurus and users surprised by the latest update.
Special Hello and thanks goodbrazer, who enlightened us and puzzled us at the same time  Smiley
I have to append same emotions as in Soyabeaner's post and more Huh Huh Huh

The entries I have under
“My Protected COM Interfaces”\Windows Management
{4590F811-1D3A-11D0-891F-00AA004B2E24}
{4991D34B-80A1-4291-83B6-3328366B9097}

e.g. one of those IDs  could be associated with Comodo Groups/Rules  etc.

HKCR\CLSID\{4991D34B-80A1-4291-83B6-3328366B9097}
Background Intelligent Transfer Control Class 1.0
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{4991d34b-80a1-4291-83b6-3328366b9097}
Background Intelligent Transfer Control Class 1.0
HKLM\SYSTEM\Software\Comodo\Firewall Pro\Configurations\0\HIPS\COM Groups\1\1
HKLM\SYSTEM\Software\Comodo\Firewall Pro\Configurations\0\HIPS\Policy\106\Rules\4\Allowed\3

So what I do with this ID and why this ID? {5CE34C0D-0DC9-4C1F-897C-DAA1B78CEE7C}
It can be found as belonging to HKCR\CLSID….qmgrprxy.dll
& HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Intefaces\.......Background Copy Manager

- Is it the correct item to add to“My Protected COM Interfaces”\Windows Management?
{4590F811-1D3A-11D0-891F-00AA004B2E24}
{4991D34B-80A1-4291-83B6-3328366B9097}
{5CE34C0D-0DC9-4C1F-897C-DAA1B78CEE7C} and why?

The thing with adding other entries missed by the update raises the same Q or rather many Q.
- Is there any confirmation from developers that advised by goodbrazer must be added?
- What are we missing in our security strength by not having those?
- Will that be fixed and come in smoothly with the next update?
or
- Do we have to clean uninstal /reinsatall in order to get them?
If not, and we must add those manually,
- Can we, please, have a description of those additional resources and step by step instruction of adding those new settings, which help “protecting more resources”.

I would allow myself to prevent replies saying that provided above IS the instruction already. Well,.. I’d rather give my reply to that earlier: “Please, consider me being an idiot, who needs “… for Dummies” books-like explanations. I’ll live with that
…and then do configuration changes sloooowly... but correctly  Wink

Thanks in advance for any information.
My regards

P.S. To Moderators:
Probably what I am asking here does not belong to the Announcement Section.
Please move the request to the appropriate location.

seems its been quite a long while since I've posted, but I wanted to say W0W! on this new update,  it updated the firewall without me having to do anything or adjust or re-apply any settings. also the firewall  GUI is more robust and smooth without any lag or spikes in cpu usage when I'm in the firewall GUI interface navigating around.

so well done Comodo  Clapping

btw. goodbrazer  hey dude I see your now a moderator.  well deserved hope you been well and the rest of y'all too

 Cheers

Hi SiberLynx,

I don't have any information about these new protected resources.
I listed them in case someone will find useful this information.
And of course, adding these items to config is not obligatory.

btw. goodbrazer  hey dude I see your now a moderator.  well deserved hope you been well and the rest of y'all too

 Cheers
Hi Ron,

Even IF you install 3.0.19.318 from fresh, you would have to export your rules first.  Upon importing them after installing, you probably would lose these new changes Roll Eyes

SiberLynx, you look like a registry nut.  Maybe you could help us out here:
http://forums.comodo.com/help_for_v3/update_3019318_questions-t20857.0.html

BTW, there will be a new update today/tomorrow according to Egemen to fix the network speed issue:
