Nothing. If everything went smoothly - you're a lucky guy.  Cheers I had I few problems and I still have one - my scanner doesn't work. But that's a problem for many people using Vista  Sad

Update under Vista that worked for me:
Closing CFP - starting cpfupdat.exe (Program Files\COMODO\Firewall) as administrator - restarting twice.

Scanning under Vista that worked for me:
Closing CFP - starting CFP as administrator - 'Scan my system'.

Cheers

Hi Egemen,

This is a bit confusing.

The previouse version was 3.0.15.277.
The Update from within CFP asked to restart 2 times.
The second time it the message stated something like:
"... important configuration changes were made...Reboot"
What are you saying - those are still not the changes, which lead to reduction of the number of pop-ups and those changes will not be available ever unless complete new installation performed?
If so, does the the downloaded new installation of 16.295 requires uninstall of 15.277?
Are some additional steps needed like reg. cleaning etc.?
Will the 16.295 accept saved settings?

Sorry, for the flood of Q... but I honestly didn't get the point of an update when one cannot have full advantage out of it unless one do full install  Thinking

Thanks in advance

My regards

Hi,

No you still have the same power and features. This anti-leak is not a feature but a set of configuration options provided to the users during the installation to make D+ less noisy.
For example, the same configuration settings could be used with previous versions of CFP too although it would require solid experience in using CFP.

With the updates, you have received the latest version with the updated binaries and the bug fixes. But this version of the installer is now able to pre-configure CFP for you. Thats the only difference.

I thought comodo memory firewall was supposed to be integrated into this version of CFP. Sad

Since it's obviously not in this version when will see this become incorporated?

It works, but I question a work around that forces a user to shut down a security product in order to enable functionality of a component.  This needs to be addressed by Comodo via an update.

I used the updater and it went smooth enough.  After reboot BOClean excluder popped up, froze and I had to kill it's process.  Rebooted and the same happened so I uninstalled BOCLean then rebooted again. No problems after that.

Scanner did it's job quickly and founf nothing so that's cool.

..and we all like it less noisy... Smiley  Hi Egemen,
Thanks a lot for reply.
I was not patient enough and reinstall before getting your answer. I feel guilty  Sad
Everything went smooth including preliminary scan. And it works from within CFP.

Few words about this install and scan, if I may:

1) Running .295 setup asks whether user want to unstall existing…”
It would be great if the question would contain something like “are you going to install the new one after that?” and respectively the setup of the new one will run after Reboot. Some SoftWares do that.

2) The scan during installation.
Actually it has a terrific speed. More than 350.000 files on 4 drives in 31 min. It is at leas 3 times faster if not more, then many scanners I’ve tried.
At the same time there is a suggestion. I think it can gain even more speed when user disable any existing “anti-Gurd(s)” temporarily.
I found the interference of AVG Guard when Comodo accessed one file which AVG false positively flags here currently. (I am keeping the file). So AVG message popped up. Then I disabled it’s guard.
Mainly what I am saying – if I am right about this - Comodo may remind the user about such thing. Usually if you read deferent scanners instructions there is an advice like this concerning disabling other Guards …and scheduled scans, as a matter of fact.

3) Note for paranoid people  Wink
Fast scanning is very good … but I am sitting here connected without a firewall !!!
Oh my God !!! They will panic because they’ve read many times: “You may be infected in less then 30 seconds(!!!) being connected and not using Firewall”
So do we need to be connected during the full scan especially in installation mode?

4) The import of saved settings.
Correct me if I am wrong, it will report the successful import but that is not the case (at least visually) until the next Reboot (?)
And another thing that I am sure of – Comodo does not save Trusted Software Vendors added by user – you have to reenter them.

That’s all folks. Thanks for your time.

Other than that  (B)

Cheers

Since version 3.0.16.295 of CFP 'My Pending Files' was disabled for all Defense+ modes other than 'Clean PC Mode'.  So how will user (or even CFP) know if previously added application to the rules as a thrusted application hasn't been changed?

CFP 2.4 checks 'Cryptographic Signature' (hash of the file or something similar) when application is launched.

Up to 3.0.15, CFP put modified files in the pending list(which I personaly think wasn't the best idea, but it was some solution).

But now as I see it I don't have any kind of veryfication of previously added rules. If it's true then it's a big hole in PC's security. Let's assume I don't have any on-access anti-virus/anti-malware program or the one I use didn't catch a virus/trojan. Let's assume that this virus/trojan has modified some application I had previously added to CFP's rules as SAFE. What will happen in this scenario ?

Nice, did try the "Scan my computer" and it worked flawlessly, very nice speed. (Edit: Forgot to mention that I am running Vista Business 32-bit OEM) But what I was wondering, I have Avira installed, is it wise to keep the other AV since CFP has one build in now? I mean I never get any virus or anything (never say never, I know), but maybe I should ask, how does this compare to other AV (on demand mode)? Smiley

Many thanks for this remarkably f*cked update and having me losing more than 1 hour, with an still non functionnal vista computer :
- first, the update did not worked : "can not write cfp.exe". Great ! He nonetheless stopped the process, which left me without firewall
- after reading this forum, I rebooted and manually launched the updater prog. Two reboots after (wouah , great update process !), I log into my computer and had to spend 20 minutes to accept rundll32.exe lauchs, while being in "Clean PC mode" and having only made an update !!!
- I then had still 3 nvidia related errors at each login, since I configured defense+ to block all unknown event before its launch, and I can't have it accepts those since I can't launch these system tray and hooks manually. Superb ! Do you know that many computers comes with nvidia cards ? You should try one, they do quite good products.
- All my sidebar gadgets accessing the network do no more work, and I don't know what to do to correct the problems.

Do you actually test your products before releasing them ?

Well, uninstalled and reverted to my previous firewall (Jetico by the way) which never f*cked my computer as your update has (in fact, I have never had such a torough computer experience destruction before, and hope it will never be again the case.).

I have now to got to review and download sites to relate my experience and warn users not to use your product if they plan on using their computer after. By the way, the same happend to a friend whose I advised to use your product, so I'm not an isolated case.

Keep the good work Thumb Down

You have a "non functionnal vista computer" because you must learn to use it - first...  Thinking

Panic, what's "Meh!" ?  Smiler

Cheers, Guys... deep breath...    Thumb Up

bwahahahahahahaha ! excellent !  Clapping
perhaps you could then explain me what happened, you computer genius ?   Nerd

I even tried to uninstall then reinstall the product : this one would have been the funiest if I had not already been so pissed off.
All I got after login in was a black screen and the mouse pointer !!!!! Explorer was not launched, and I had to do it manually with the taskmanager. It was because I asked the fw not to allow unknown processes (explorer !  Thumb Up) before its launch. This has always worked for me with the version 2 on XP or the previous v3 release. I do not see the point in using a fw if it allows everything before its launch, but it certainly is also because I do not know how to use my computer...

And this has been tried with the same result on 3 different computers from different computer vendors, with different versions of vista and different installed programs...

I precise that I always recommended this product until then, and made very very positive reviews on many sites. But you can't trust a product when its updates are not tested before their release and then prevent the computer to function properly. I can accomodate some bugs, that's normal, but this is far beyond.
