Hi!

Does v.3 need the "blocking all other incoming" rule, or it has an "invisible, biult in" blocking rule? Because when I first installed CFP in november, there were only an icmp request blocking rule.

Greetings from LeonSprings, Texas USofA,

Along with "riggers" will submit my assistance to do some testing and proof reading of any Tootorial on CFP v3.x.xx.xxx and if any have ever read any of my posts you will know they are not brief and may become a little rambling.  I am only following my point of view on how maybe it should be worded, you may do whatever you feel is best.

I know that should be 'Tutorial', but; that is what the English language is about, have fun.

Thank you for reading my massage,

I guess I'm not techy enough by far, but I have a suggestion. Keep it in very very plain language (for dummies), and use a lot of similes, like: "A firewall is like a doorman". I've been private teacher and the key is imagining oneself in the shoes of someone who knows nothing. Smiley

Right on!  You described me.  I downloaded CFP V3 about a month ago.  And I can't recommend CFP to my friends and family simply because after many, many hours of reading the Help sections and posting questions in the forum, I simply do not understand how it works and what settings to establish/edit.  Two secondary, but nonetheless important, reasons for my non-recommendation are (1) it has a least one serious bug (check disk) and (2) from what I read, the program's uninstaller doesn't work and one has to go through you-know-what to get CFP properly removed from his system.  I can tell you that the averagle/non-sophisticated computer user doesn't want to be confronted by such issues because he/she won't know what to do (me for one!).

So Comodo has to decide whether it wants their product to be widely and happily used by techies and non-techies alike (like CCleaner) or whether it wants their product to end up being used by techies only.  The path Comodo is going down right now is the latter...not the former.

If we both agree that no one can drive a car or a bycicle without training and that in order to drive them no one has to learn how to repair them then I can guess the level of effort non-techies should at least put to use whatsoever security related product.

There is no way to attain security without a minimal amount of knowledge. Even CCleaner has advanced options and warn the user to be cautious about few options.

I downloaded an UpDate to Comodo this morn v3.0.20.320 and took a look-see into the HELP section.

WOW ! ! ! ! ! !  Why(?) the "Overview" is not accessible until you have the program installed as well as the "Comodo Firewall Pro > Installation " with STEP by STEP instructions as well as "The choices explained:" and the way 'choices' are described could get a little confusing.

If you have not learned by now I will explain a little about my experiences in writings.  This could get a little ugly, thanks to a spell checker on my system that part is a little easier.  Grammar leaves much to be desired.

The following are some notes I had made in the 'Installation' section:

(What is this doing, only in the HELP file(?), this should be on your website for review before even downloading the program or as a small file to be downloaded to be studied before hand.  Double & triple spacing looks good with all of these graphics, but; why only after the dowload and install?)

The following is from the "OverView" section:

My comments are within the parentheses:

(The following section, 'Introduction,' should be a part of the installation and brief for those that are not Experienced Users, such as myself and many other that you depend on or will be depending on to spread the word about CFP.)

Introduction
What's New In Comodo Firewall Pro
Installing Comodo Firewall Pro
System Requirements
Starting Comodo Firewall Pro
General Navigation and Firewall Summary
Understanding Alerts

The remaining three sections of the guide cover every aspect of the configuration of Comodo Firewall Pro. Advanced users interested in configuring their own security policies and rules may want to use 'Network Security Policy' and 'Computer Security Policy' as their starting points.

(A NOTE here, for those inexperienced, to leave these sections alone unless instructed by a more experinced user.)

(Plus should these be placed in a pre-install file for the New Users to download and study?  That is if they are really interested in working with the very BEST FireWall and HIPS program.)

I am also very sure you can pick-out what was copied here from the original HELP file.  Would you like for me to continue with this type of approach?

The begining,

As stated before, and the situation has not changed any, still not a writer.  So here goes nothing!!

On Wiki website> wiki.comodo.com/CFP3/Help_Guide/Introduction/Alerts

In the section:

"CFP3/Help Guide/Introduction/Alerts

How Should I answer the Firewall Alerts?

Points to consider:"

Paragraph #1. last line: "( . . . the application has not yet been added to the safe application database yet)."

One of the "yet"s should be removed.

Paragraph #2. first line: " . . . 'Treat This Application As' option as much as possible.his will deploy . . ."

Enter a blank space and add the letter "t" for the word 'this' will do much better.

Still in the begining, thank you for reading my Poster roasty,
