TOC has just been given a major overhaul... I've taken a rather huge step of scratching many sections that, in my point of view, are not relevant for the newbie. If something should not be touched by someone at this basic level of understanding, best not to mention it at all in the manual. This includes most of the 'Advanced' sections within the firewall and D+ screens. Sections that are interesting are explicitly mentioned in the text.

To be honest I did take a bit of a bulldozer approach on this.. if you feel something important has been removed, feel free to add it back in.

Also note: The 'network configurations' have been changed to add in LAN + ICS as suggested by Opus Dei.

I'll work on a Writer's Guide soon... one point regarding the language: I just noticed that CFP is written in Americanlish. I'd recommend sticking to that for the book, despite any personal preferences one might have for any other english variant, simply to provide continuity between the application and the docs.

Melih.
You need to let us upload images like screen shots that will be in the tutorial/manual. Maybe it's no panic with that, but it's needed so the layout can be seen and adjusted.
Opus Dei wanted the Comodo logo there as well. Personally I changed the theme to something named blue, so I can't see that logo anyway...
You will probably have to ask the admin to make the changes.

I didn't really like the way it's "built" in there... kind of confusing... Shocked
You'll get used to it... maybe... Cheesy

How do i do that?

I will quote my own answer to OD from
Talk:Main Page
ComodoWiki

About the image top-left (logo), I think it's the administrators job again... I don't think that we can change it. The admin should change the LocalSettings.php file. The logo image should be 135 pixels square. Another size require CSS changes. /AOwL

You will need to access the files on the server or through an admin interface. I don't know if there is an backend admin on wiki because i have never used it before.
In LocalSettings.php you should link to a Comodo logo somewhere or maybe you can upload it to wiki?
Your default logo isn't square but that can be fixed... Wink

Kander has the TOC looking good. It may need some minor tweaks but I think a lot that can be done by the authors, as long as they give use an outline for the Master TOC
I added internal links to chapters, however none of the pages have been created yet they will automatically open to the Chapter Edit page until they are started

Ya'll take a look and lets hear some Opinions.  I´d like to see some people volunteer for specific sections.

I would love to hear your input

How about adding a section (particularly in the beginners book) about how to get support. We could tell them what additional info may be helpful and how to generate that info.

I speak as an average user when it comes to things like this, and that is defintely one very useful thing that I would find useful and helpful as I am sure many! others would  Viva Comodo

also the guide should begin and cover every pop up during setting up the firewall, for most average users the balloon tip won't actually tell us much if we do not know what the option actually means and what it will do. So a readme guide section for when after the firewall installs and upon reboot it pops up a wizard that explains things would be good,

For example. network is a term used too generically, would be useful if in the guide for whatever option it could say, routers, networked computers, etc = choose this option.

for those not behind a router or a home network (which i assume home network means more than one computer connected to the internet or connected to eachother right?) = choose this option

umm I'm not good at explaining myself most times lol. but i hope you get the drift of what I am saying, as an average user when it comes to certain things  a guide and help like that would be very welcomed and help to insure we have our firewall's set-up and configured exactly how it should be for our systems

You really have to wait, sorry
the reason you got that message is the Introduction doesn't exist yet there is not much created yet we have just started. Someone will post here when there is any complete content.

Just visited the wiki and I have to say that from a beginners stand point it looks great. Looking over the TOC, this book will be a great help. I also like the idea of a the three part approach. When I first started using the internet I admit to being somewhat lacks in my security. When I finally got around to thinking about it I went with the "security suite". Bounced through the years using several of them before getting a major wake-up call earlier this year.  Since buying my new laptop and trying to figure out Vista, I have been more careful (my girlfriend calls it obsessive) about security programs.  Wow, reading over this post I realize I'm starting to ramble. All I'm really trying to say is keep up the great work and I hope to be able to read more soon. Thank you all for donating your time to help newbies like me.

Much appreciated,

I added a link to Home PC and Internet Security Best Practices on the main wiki page it is
not rolled into the book however I wanted to create it.
Possibly it could be added as an apendix or even a chapter. This needs to be discused.  Pleas don´t link anything to this as I am sure I am going to move it.
