Hi everyone

Melih :

I recently installed CMF 2.0.2.12 and works fine, it works with few resources but when I pressed the Desktop Icon it didn't open as the early version of CPF 3.0, and in the next reboot it happened what I didn't expect , cpfres.dll issue with the last CPF build, however after 3 windows dialog appeared the CPF icon, I open the firewall working fine as always, but I had to open CMF manually and all fine after that.

Bottom line : as I can see for me, CPF didn't crashed it seems to me that CMF crashed, to be honest I did not pay attention to the messages very well , but after a few click and starting manually the CMF all is OK, rebooted twice and not problem unless appears a balloon in the tray icon of CMF telling me that CMF is running in the tray so press here to not see this message again, I pressed and still appears, so I in the next reboot I didn't pay attention to the baloon and after a few seconds it disappeared. (but for me are minor annoyances)

I know that this is the feedback/announcement topic but I didn't find a better topic suited to post about CMF, I will thank for any answer

Thanks in advance

Any ideas???

Regards

Melih :

According to my last post, maybe I saw a cmfres.dll 0x0 crash error if is the case, that will explain that's  why  the CPF opened as usual and in fact the CMF crashed. So may this help Tyler

I will be updating any ocurrence and giving more feedback to improve it, but I have faith in CMF as CPF

Thanks

Melih :

CONFIRMED

I did a recent reboot and it's a cmfres.dll 0x0 crash, this issue it's only related to CMF, so the CPF works fine

Thanks in advance

Melih :

Ufff..... I hope you don't hate me, but today (Sunday) I spent 1 hour and fraction trying to recreate the cmfres.dll error in CMF, and I took some conclusions.

Scenarios of cfmres.dll error. It happens in the next reboot after yo do these actions

1.- When you press the balloon that says "COMODO Memory Firewall is running on tray!. Please click here to not show this reminder again" (By the way, always will appear the reminder regardless if you click on it or not.

2.- Open the GUI and you only navigate on it and you don't change any settings

3.- If you give privileges to CMF in the Computer Security Policy section (CPF) the CMF will crash dragging along CPF (domino effect) BTW CPF crashed only in this scenario after 10 days of working without problems, so CPF 3.0.15.277 is the more stable build until now , in this case CPF will crash because of CMF

4.- When you turn off your computer (The worst of all) that's mean when you turn on the computer in a cold boot it will always trigger the cmfres.dll 0x0 error

Bottom line:

I had to uninstall it, but for the record, it doesn't mean that I say the CMF is bad, but I unfortunately I had these issues, but still I find that a Memory Firewall is a great idea. And I want to believe that this is a constructive feedback, and above of all I don't want to sound pessimistic. And thanks for all the patience.

Melih :

Yesterday (Monday) I reinstalled CMF giving it an another try, and it worked fine, except for the reminder balloon that doesn't disappear and when you click it at the next reboot appears the cmfres 0x0 error I mentioned to you in my earlier posts, but after that I opened the GUI with the desktop icon, opened fine and at the second  reboot the problem was gone and since the cmfres.dll seems to be solved
However, I honestly  can't tell you that the issue was gone. So after I sent the last post telling you about uninstalling CMF, I went to rest (Sunday at 2 AM, so I was very sleepy) I was thinking about it, after all it was a matter of time that I would install it again, giving it another try. So here I'm posting this post telling you that I'm  back again in the game with CMF 2.0.2.12

Bottom line :

Until now no more cmfres.dll 0x0 (crossing my fingers)
