test results

And what you say to that?
I wonder whether to change anti-virus.

What do you want from your desktop security software?

1)Ability to detect known malware: just to see if your pc is infected
2)Ability to remove detected malware: so that you can clean your pc
3)Ability to Prevent any known or unknown malware from infecting your pc: so that you keep your pc clean and free of viruses/malware.

?

thanks

V3.10 tested, old version, they are at 3.13 now and with a much improved detection rate with a lot less FPs and besides that with D+ in proactive mode the antivirus is almost never required but serves as a secondary mechanism if the user unwittingly lets the infection pass through D+

I have to agree with them on the false positives. I have the heuristics and D+ disabled on all of my friend's computers that have CIS installed. I have my heuristics set on high and D+ enabled, but I know how to deal with them. My friends don't want to be bothered (the FP rate is way too high). As far as the CAV component, I feel secure.

If your computer is clean then you need a test that checks if a security product will keep it clean or not.

So you need 3 and not 1 and 2.

The test you referred to tests 1 and 2.....

Comodo was built to do 3..

But we have also designed Comodo to do 1 and 2.

Hi PalZer0,

Current release is 3.13.121240.574, as far as I know
But probably I am wrong and there is a new one?  Huh (sorry PalZer0 , see my Edit below)

Please see the notes about the release at the beginning of the thread
https://forums.comodo.com/feedbackcommentsannouncementsnews_cis/comodo_internet_security_313121240574_released-t47733.0.html

It would be helpful to tell developers more details about your System Environment
What OS you are using; What other security do you have in place?

What was previously installed.

What are you trying to install now - the whole suite ot just a Firewall or just an AV? ..

...etc.

*** Edit *** Oh !! my !! I just found this thread
https://forums.comodo.com/empty-t48957.0.html

What tha...?!! Shocked  There is no new updates available when I am forcing to check .... Hmmm...

My regards

=======

BSOD (unfortunately).

Hi roberta,

Well,  not much info in your message. Sorry, roberta...(even if that was a joke  Grin )

I am using Firewall only since very early Comodo through whole  life cycle till v2.4 on older systems and the XP Pro
There were never Black or Blue screens neither in Win200 pro nor on XP in the past.
I fresh-installed different versions of Firewall on different systems for my friends on more then 20 systems (and sure there were numerous updates that not required reinstallation)

There was just 1 slight problem as I remember with 3.8 (again without BSODs), but that was sorted out after some contacts with developers.

The case is here in the forum. There was a complain from installer about the presence of the old version. The issue was solved. Now proper registry cleaning is in place during uninstall.

Recently, 2 days ago Firewall only Proactive with Defense+ (no ToolBars or other unneeded stuff) was installed on Windows 7 Home Premium x64 - that was perfect!

After that the Firewall was set up on three other Windows 7 32bit and x64 (Pro & Ultimate) - the  same successful installs.
All   systems had different security in place. (Avast/ Avira / a-squared Anti-Malware Suite)

So the statement:  "BSOD" - says nothing.

Do you have dumps to submit to developers?

Finally - I am using my golden rule installing any security and Comodo Firewall included - that never failed yet:

- disconnect;
- kill all other security
- Services belonging to other security must Stopped and Disabled;
- use Autoruns from Sysinternals for temporarily getting rid of all spare Startups;
(- never use MSconfig for that -  important(!))
- Reboot with the "virgin system" after the above procedures

- Install

There should not be any BSODs (at least that is my experience).

- Reboot;
- switch on your security (services/devices/drivers) one by one answering Alerts if any
- Reboot since you re-enabled the startup(s)
- etc.

That's all

My regards

Updater tells updates are available.  Once again weird release like .577 ?

Nevermind, seems this is the case:
We are also going to issue related CIS program updates at the same time. I will confirm here as from which update onwards this change starts.

Thanks
