To me personally, and probably to many in this forum, CIS is an proved(working) alternative to the paid security software solutions out there from the "industry leaders".
Thumb Up

On a side note CIS made it into the 'Top 10 Free Windows Applications' list by insidehw.com (http://www.insidehw.com/Software/Tools/Top-10-Free-Windows-Applications/Page-2.html)

It beats me why on earth the author wrote this: Since it is free, you cannot expect superior protection level as some high-profile commercial applications have, but it can provide enough protection for average user.
WTF?
Has he used it at all? Lol.

I told you you wouldn't see it as the same thing. Wink

Obviously Softpedia didn't see it as the same thing either Smiley The very example you give using Softpedia and Softpedia actually changing the term just proves

1)the term used by softpedia was not subjective
2)as a result your example is flawed

But lets not fight, I just wanted to set the record straight...now i feel I have Wink

Peace, Love, Security!

Surely even you have to admit that "proven" is a bit of a stretch here. If all you need to be proven is usership without merit, then Windows is proven beyond measure! Yet we all know Windows is far from ideal.

I love CIS, but I can admit that it's still a bit funky. I'm still hesitant to recommend it to friends and family. I just had to uninstall it from my sisters machine because she would blindly remove anything the AV found, much to the distress of her system which I had to rebuild. Does that sound "proven"?

I don't doubt that in a year or so, CIS will be "proven", but it's a bit young yet. Angel

I agree that CIS can be "funky" for average or below average users but I would have to say that yes, Windows IS proven beyond measure.

CIS is a proven alternative for the people who are computer savvy enough to understand how to use it and set it up.  Much more so than the alternative to Windows known as Linux.

MSE has been reviewed numerous times, and AFAIK the reviews have all been positive. Probably the best free AM at the moment besides Avira - although MSE doesn't have any nag screens or anything.

Not true. That's classic marketing BS. I downloaded an alternative free (and very popular) AV software and I find it better. For one thing my computer isn't slow anymore like it was when Comodo was running. Also, I don't have an issue anymore with the software taking over my computer and globbling up 99% of my resources because of a cmdagent.exe issue which is what prompted me to dump Comodo. Turns out this is not the first time users got hosed with this issue. I found posts going back to 2007 regarding the cmdagent.exe issue taking over all computer resources.

Shame on you guys !!!!!!

Comodo has never caused any sluggish behavior on my system, quite the opposite in fact. It boots faster than with other products and runs smooth as silk.

Here's more.

There is no test that I'm aware of that tests Comodo Antivirus by it self against "Expensive Security Suites"...    This is pure BS lol.
