What information should I know when posting for CAVS2 support on these forums?

The first thing required is a description of what the problem is and what you were doing, or trying to do, when the error occured.

If your post is about a function in the application not behaving or responding how you expected it to, please describe what you expected to happen. Sometimes what we think are errors turn out to be reality-to-expectation misalignment issues Wink.

Generally, the following information is handy;

what version of your CAVS is currently installed
what version of the operating system you are running - Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, 2003 or Vista
whether your operating system is 32 bit or 64 bit - applies to Windows XP, 2003 and Vista only
whether your system is fully up to date with Microsoft patches and updates
what Microsoft Service Packs have been installed on your system
what is your Internet connection type (dial-up/cable/Direct connection/LAN etc)
whether you are logging in to the OS as an adminstrator or as a limited user
what other security type applications are already installed (firewall, HIPS, anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc.)
whether other security related applications have been removed/disabled before installing CAVS
whether other security related application which have been removed/disabled after installing CAVS
how much memory (RAM) is installed in your system
how much free hard disk space is available
