I find it interesting that the CPU usage issue being described here and attributed to cmdagent.exe is posted here under Firewall bugs because the CIS firewall process is cfp.exe. The cmdagent.exe process is related to the antivirus part of the program

As far as I know cmdagent.exe is related to D+,an integral part of the Firewall, therefore this is the correct section.

xp pro sp3

It's logitech desktop messenger for me.
Disabled and it is o.k.
Enabled, cmdagent uses 100% of both cores.

Thank you!  Hug

I have xp home sp3 (finnish)

Removing logitech desktop messenger solved the problem for me too. Safe mode boot -> uninstalled logitech dm -> normal boot and everything works fine!  Clapping

For updating the whole CIS there is cfpupdat.exe application
cmdagent, as I wrote, is the main acting part of all three features, and also it updates AV databases
CFP.exe is graphical user interface application for CIS

I am using Comodo Firewall on 2 computers for a long time now: a PC (an old one: Athlon 1200, 512 Mo, GeForce 4) and a laptop (Centrino 1.8, 1024 MO, GeForce 6800), both running Windows Xp Pro SP3.

I had no problem and was very happy with my firewall until the last update to the new version 3.5. From then i had the same trouble on the 2 computers: The cmdagent sucks 100% of the CPU and freeze everything.  Angry

The only other security software that i use is AntiVir, i didn't use the antivirus provided by Comodo. And i have only the essentials services runnings at windows startup (the basics: antivir, comodo and the wireless software on my laptop, that's all; I've unchecked all the others with Autoruns). I can also say that i had defence+ actived on one computer and not activated on the other: and both had the same bug. I've tried once already to unistall then re-install CIS 3.5, but after one day the problem with cmdagent starts again.  Sad

So i'm now using an other free firewall software, but i hope that this bug will be fixed soon because comodo was the best firewall i've used till now...

You might as well just install 3.0.24.378 version instead. in fact it will be even more safer, as using different version parts could cause unpredictable problems.
Where can I get this version? If I try to download from Comodo they only offer the CIS which uses frequently 100% of my Centrino Duo Laptop (XP+SP3).
[at]Comodo: How many people have warned you NOT to build the CIS monster? The FW alone works fine, but CIS "kills" many pc!

FileHippo is a good and trusted source. You can find that particular version there: http://filehippo.com/download_comodo/

3.0.25.378 was the latest "stable" release for me. I had to downgrade to it because of the 100% CPU bug.

Hello.

Seemingly whenever my system does a Windows update, cmdagent.exe makes my CPU usage shoot up to 100%. I use version 3.5.54375.427 and the last time I encountered the same issue, I just uninstalled and reinstalled COMODO, which did fix the problem but I couldn't relate it to windows update back then. Now the same thing happening, also while doing an update, hence I figure this caused by Windows update. Any ideas what exactly might cause and solve this headache? many thx & Cheers

Disabling D+ actually reduced CPU utilization from 100% to 50%.  I uninstalled the Logitech desktop messenger program using Add/Remove Programs and rebooted.  Problem still existed.  However, in task manager I found the program was still running.  Disabled it and rebooted.  CPU utilization is now down to less than 5%.  Apparently uninstalling the program only removes it from the Start Menu.  It neither removes the program nor stops it from running.  Bad Logitech, bad!

While this may not be the only program that would cause the problem, it should be a reproducible case that the Comodo engineers can use to determine the cause.  Let's hope.

I have just uninstalled Comodo because cmdagent  had started using 100% of the CPU time and would not allow me to stop it or change Comodo to non-auto start up. I had not had any Windows update nor changed anthing on my computer. It is now the third time Comodo has caused some kind of slowdown problem but previously just stopping it and restarting cured the problem, but this time the only solution was to uninstall. I shall wait to see if there are any other replies with possible solutions before re-installing.

Same here - although I get only 50% in the Task Manager (I have a Dual Core System).

I actually discovered this problem on my two machines - and solved it the same way.

I feel kinda naked without Comodo.

Hopefully somebody fix this soon ...

Thanks!

May be it is a good idea to make a new topic with known problems of CIS and some other software (Logitec DM, The Bat and so on) and stick that topic ?

Hello,

I have the same problem.
Running:
CPF - ver. 3.5.54375.427
My processor is C2D 4400 (2.2 GHz).

cmdagent.exe is using <50% of my CPU ONLY when im using Windows Update. I have it set to "Notify, but do not donwload/install". As soon as the popup shows me that there are updates waiting to be downloaded and when i click download cmdagent.exe immediately pops up to 40-50% CPU usage.
It may also be a problem for most of you, running the Windows Updates FULLY enabled, so you don't know when its running in the background thus cmdagent.exe slows your computer suddenly/randomly/not at a fixed action/time. Just do a little research for yourself.

The only solution for me now is to disable the Windows Updates.

I hope this problem will be solved soon, because I love CPF and i dont want to replace it with other firewall...

Regards,
Yogal
