For those of us who just want to ensure that our computer is protected without reading tutorial after tutorial, maybe someone could put together a quick, simple, and easy guide to preventing any security leaks or intrusions. Most people are content with the basic setup, however some of us have reason to want to amplify our security (for example, participating on an IRC channel and possibly having enemies with hacking knowledge - not just paranoia).
