e-mail certificate and encryption algorithm

I have a question regarding the Comodo s/mime e-mail certificate. I want to use the certificate for e-mail encryption. I am wondering if the certificate itself determines the algorithm which will be used for encryption (AES 256, RC2, RC4 etc.) or the Mail program. Does someone here knows it?

No, the certificate does not. It’s the recipients email client that controls that.
