Sorry I didn't respond (not been well). I didn't pay any attention to the themes.. mainly because I'm using W2k. :Smiley

Much better thanks.. well, until installed CAVS 2 anyway. Wink I'm having CAVS 2 issues as well (posted a reply to your post). In fact, CAVS 2 just opened a file submission to Comodo in the systray (little yellow envelope) for no apparent reason.. I didn't ask for it & auto-submit is OFF. The email scanner is making typing very difficult.. hmm.. perhaps thats how I got the file submission thing up.. actually, I've no idea how to get the file submission screen up. LOL.

Welcome back Kail. Smiley

Thanks Paul. Smiley

Heh, no doubt there'll be plenty of little buggies to find.   Cheesy  That's why we're here, right?  Glad ur doing better; hope CAVS 2 doesn't bring you back down! Comodo Needs You

LM

PS:  In my reply to your reply regarding the CAVS 2 Beta issues, I said that I wonder if there's a Restore issue (inasfar is CAVS 1 being in existence still), because after doing the uninstall/restore stuff, when I reboot (after re-uninstalling CAVS 1) there's an installer message comes up, w/o any information, just a cancel button (which I click).  Which, when I Restored to the previous settings, it reinstalled CAVS 1 and showed the same kind of window, just w/info regarding it was installing CAVS 1.  After having installed CAVS 2, it's still doing it...

This seems like a fitting place to talk about themes and appearances, and continue a discussion from the CPF forum...
I always use a program called replacer to change the Ux Theme in windows, just move it and it replaces it, since I do not like forcing it-like the neowin fix, but it does work...
Was reading this post, and saw that LittleMac was here, and found the answers to open up the wider range of MsStyles...
If there is anyway, that I can post downloads to a specific program or programs to further help in the patching of the UxTheme, I will gladly do so, as I believe that I have them all, and they are freeware, as our my themes/appearances...(except 1 -way overated)
Some are just a little more difficult to find sometimes LoL  Thinking
I guess that I should say that I am a collector of skins, appearances, themes, programs, and anything else that I may ever need for a computer--Even my my wife tells people now, and has become an inside joke of sorts--"Got a Program for That LoL

Also wanted to add, that you should not even have to install these to anywhere--just double click on them in whatever folder that you keep your styles in--mine are in variuos folders according to download....
And another trick for downloading from sites that rent space from the likes of adware sponsors--usually after several downloads you will get either zip files or installers with a different looking icon, which means they are clean--since the vast majority of MsStyles are stand alones....
A good site in mention of this, would be appleblossom--until sponsors get wise (and they are) to us being wise..
I am also a fan of the safe try mode in norton GoBack 4, to clean files-burn 'em, and restore the computer....
I hate the spyware/adware, and look for any way to defeat them, and what they stand for.
Although too much at once can be very interesting LoL  Nerd
Ok-Ok enough already--point made Eh

Darrell,

I keep intending to get back over here, and just haven't gotten to it.  You can post "free useful programs" here:  http://forums.comodo.com/index.php/topic,1639.0.html.  The Mods will then add them to the collection, which is here:  http://forums.comodo.com/index.php/topic,1731.0.html

You said you don't have to have the styles/themes unpacked into the Resources folder, but I have never been able to get them to work unless they were.  What's your trick?

You also said in the other thread, that you don't have to use the entire WindowBlinds package in order to use the theme; but how?  I've tried that, but Windows won't seem to find/recognize it, since the file is not an .msstyles.  Again, what's your trick?

You got me on the part about the window blinds files, they do not work, except with the program (that I have found, but have not really tried)..
Now the MsStyles should work from anywhere, as long as you have replaced the UxTheme.dll, which is very easy, and will gladly post the programs for it, plus tons of MsStlyes..
I have the window blinds, and the theme xp, but see no reason to use either one, because there is an MsStylye for just about every taste there is in styles..
I used to go to all that trouble of installing them, and making sure that the names were exact, since quite a few were not, which caused them not to work properly--in the plus folder, and the themes folder for windows (which there are actually two themes folders in windows), but after finding out that my shared folders on my network could just be double clicked and set, I no longer install them, and they also work when my wife double clicks them from the same shared folder..
You can keep them anywhere you like, and it should work with all the MsStyles, and please believe that there are many different ones to use.I like to use my pictures that I find, and just try to match the Style to it.
If you have any preferences, just let me know, and I will upload them to my online account, and they are all freeware styles from the web that I have found over the years, or I can upload some and you can check 'em out, and let me know when you are ready for more LoL  Thinking
Just let me know your connection speed, so I know what size of files to upload, as I have a rapidshare account, and the free downloads are time limited by size, with a max of a 100mgs (which will download at your max speed), which should keep you busy for the 2 hrs wait to download again LoL  Sad
Have you replaced your UxTheme.dll, or do you need help with that also, because you should be able to download a MsStyle to your desktop and double click to see it pop up in your properties.
I have also tried my hand at making them, but broke weak after trying a couple of days on one...
Just let me know where you are with these MsStyles, and where you would like to be, and we will work together to get you there..

Well, if that ain't a big box of pizza!  Hmm, yummy!

I just tried one of the styles I've downloaded, from my downloads folder, and it worked.  Now you'll probably think I'm crazy, but I tried that when I first started trying to use themes, and it wouldn't work; they never showed up in the drop-down menu where they should; only the Windows ones were there.  That's why I started putting them in the Resources folder, with all the matching filenames, etc.

And yes, obviously I have replaced uxtheme, in order to use them; unless that's not required either!  Wink

Well then, there you go.  I'm not as um, focussed on these the way it seems you are; I like changing stuff around every now and then, just for fun, and 'coz I can.  Like I said before, I'm not into it enough to spend $$ on applications to help me do extra stuff with it.  Wink

I have found a few places that provide free msstyles/themes, and have downloaded a few that I thought were interesting.  Most of them I'm not real big on, but there's a few...

I probably change mine daily, as you say "Coz I can", and I went through the same thing when I first tried it also, and still have not figured that one out either, but don't install very many, because my folder is easily accessible (don't really neeed a buy program) (It is amazing how many buy programs there are that do what you can already do, if you know the routines of the Os's), and besides, do to numerous trial and errors, I sometimes have to reformat occasionally---Since I work on computers part time, I am downloading the latest nasties, and trying to clean them, and have had my butt whipped a few times, I am just glad that none of my customers have picked these up yet (well had to redo a couple so far, do to missing operating files, but managed to keep what they had thought they had lost--no one seems to back up anymore LoL);
an interesting other hobby Heh
Also helps me to recommend security programs, and am looking forward to trying the Comodo anti virus, and if it's even close to the firewall; it has to be an awesome program....
Any things that I can do to help just let me know, and thank you so very much for all the help that I have recieved for firewall settings, and letting it do the work.....
Blessings
