Haven't checked CSC recently but here are some ideas I hope are already included or might be considered for the future.
1) Registry Repair very rarely means "Repair" but most often deleting corrupted or non needed registry keys. Sometimes keys need to be "replaced or repaired" rather than just deleted. Possibly Comodo could use CSC to compare registry keys and when needed replace keys "that can be replaced".
The problem here is versions and Service Packs ! Not only of the OS but of the magnitude of different Program Files available
2) Anxious to check file cleaning, some programs just use the file cleaning that comes with the OS.
I use several, AFF-Cleaner,
CleanUp
by Steven R. Gould, Ccleaner,
EasyCleaner
by Toni Arts, and I always finish with
MRU Blaster
,
Suprised how often broken links, and orphan filels are found.
3) One program I use once in a while is called
Find Junk Files
, mainly to delete Empty Folders (more are deleted in safe mode.) But because of possible problems I always check XP's Tool
Check for Errors
and then reboot. To this point this procedure has not failed me.
Each user may have different results.
Also have used find broken links similar results as
EasyCleaner
But have NOT used Find Junk Files portion of the program.
There are TOO many text, readme, thumb.db, log files etc., there is a great possibility a neccesary file will be deleted.
4) CSC might be able to fine tune
Find Duplicate files
.
One of the problems is that with Multiple users some files can be linked and sometimes they cannot. To delete the wrong ones get a user in trouble. And some files are found under different names,
but are they identical
?
IF CSC could offer a selective scan for photos, music, etc and can scan content regardless of name then compare eliminate duplicates but provide a link when multiple users setup is used, would help.
Since I only have one computer, I will be waiting for the next CSC release.
Hard to believe I have had this computer 10 years crashed it a lot more than just several times and used InPlace Upgrade to get me back up and running.
Need to do a major reformat and reinstall but have gigs of music and photos, to also be included in the backup.
Just acquired a larger HD, plan to partition and copy files from my original HD. But I still see there will be time before I have a fresh system again.

This post may lead to another topic but thought this was as close to its purpose.
O.S. Repair
I have been using a program called
Dial A Fix
and it it has helped, especially with Windows Installer and Windows UPdater and problems with WMI / WBEM
But I do have problems part of which is my version does not support XP Sp3 and with all the crashes I know several items might be missing.
Looks like the author might be
working again
on
Dial a Fix
again part time on weekends, and evenutally he will be working on a Vista version but eventually means at his schedule over time.
With this posting
http://www.lunarsoft.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=3096
I wondered
what company
other than
Comodo
might offer the support with his wishes?
There are many things that it can do, but many improvements needed inlcuding Vista Support.

The following is specifically targetted at Comodo Registry Cleaner:
1) Option to toggle off the reminder to close other applications before scanning (lots of tweakers are power users already, so this alert can be a repeated nuisance)
2) Option to toggle off the offer to create a System Restore point for those who don't even have the service running or at all (e.g. nLite users)
3) Option to toggle on confirmation before restoring/deleting registry backups to prevent accidental user error (clearly a safety issue)
4) Ability to multi-select registry keys, by both methods: Ctrl/Shift + Click and Drag + Click. (Can be tedious and time-consuming to manually click on hundreds or thousands of keys and add them to the ignore list).
5) Right-click context menu to "View" the backups. There has to be a more convenient method than navigating to the .reg backup files and opening them with a text editor like Notepad. Even if a backup file had a meaningful filename, it simply cannot compare to actually viewing its contents before deciding to restore or delete it.

At one time it was mentioned to add a disk defragmenter. That is a useful tool that complements a registry cleaner.

Maybe this has been mentioned before, but then my post just confirm the interest for such a feature:
Extended "Filter Entries" feature in COMODO Disk Cleaner -> Disk Clean-up
Today you can add file extensions, which is nice, but I'd like to be able to add specific files/folders. Custom paths in other words. This is an excellent feature that CCleaner has. For example, I might not want to clean all .log files on my PC, but just one specific .log file which I know is created sometimes. See my attached screen shot. I would like CSC to clean all this. Thanks.

Just tried the new beta release,
Here are a few items I hope are considered in the Wish List for CIS
1) With the new beta a backup appears asking if you want to keep the clleaning or roll back.
Can an option be added to keep this available for a few days (even with rebooting several times)
?
You only know after the reboot if your main screen loads but not if there might be problems with other installed programs.
2) In WIPE could Clean Free Space be added. To run after defrag For the File Defrag I would like to see a combination of DeFraggler and JKDefrag. For registry defrag that is still to be determined.
3) An option to defrag on boot might enable defragging some files or keys that normally are in constant use, and normally could not be defragged.
4) Not noticed if Shortcuts / Broken Links / Orphans, are deleted, this could be added to the CLeanUp section of CIS
If possible a
"Repair"
Option that actually repairs and not just deletes would be an advantage.
5) Delete empty Folders would also be good, but add a key that on restart Windows would do error checking just incase an empty folder that is used as a bookmark is accidently deleted.
The extended delay of the rollback in item 1 here would be a benefit.
6) Safe Mode allows for more deletions but also requires more precautions, again item one would be of benefit.
7) If CIS sees a problem but the file or registry key is NOT Safe to Delete, offer the
reason
why it was selected
.
An Option for startup to select in which sequence items load, with recommendations from CIS. Items that load first get to ram first. A file similar to Startup Monitor (and others that will tell you when a program wants to run at StartUp and allow you to allow or not. I am tired of programs like QuickTime and Media Player etc. wanting to run at Start UP. At least for myself I only want the O.S. and Security Programs to load at StartUP. But programs like WebExtract CleanUP only run to clean install files.
Does it make a difference in deleting, For Files or Registry keys should Registry Keys be deleted 1st, or Files be deleted first?

Update related.
Make downloading not full package (as you made with beta CSC_Setup_1.1.61653.21_2k_xp_vista_server2003_x32.exe).
Make a 8 byte file named "version" and store there 1.1.61653.21 in binary or whatever. And download only if this new version is greater than current.
Your beta is indicating that i need upgrade it the same version! While you cannot handle this mere thing hand off of driver for "SAVE DELETION" writing, good programmers.

1. Better GUI please
2. Fix those darn bugs
3. Make it safer to use, it messed me up the first time I used it and it was the final product not the RC or beta.
4. the file unlocker couldn't unlock a file so please make that work properly.

As a limited account user (XP), I would like to be prompted to enter the administrator password rather than having to use "Run As" to load CSC.

Very good, high quality piece of software. However in the disk clean up tool, on the first tab ( clean-up) it is not in depth with explaining exactly what each check is. Example. Not everyone knows what "Prefetch application cache" or "debug memory log files" means.
