I'm not on a BOClean equip[ped PC at the moment, but I'm pretty certain that BOClean does have a "Check for updates X minutes after startup" settings in its options.

Yes CBOClean does have that option, but that is not the point. It would be better if it checks for updates every time when you come online, instead of when starting up.

Sorry Red, I'm stuck in a broadband mindset where startup = online.

Just thought I'd mention, CFP 2.4 already appears to look for updates a few seconds after connection to the internet on random days.

Great program. I see lots of potential.
Keep it real time scanning like it is now. I wouldn't want to see it become a resource hog like other programs. I have added this to a few select network computers and nobody has even noticed.
I would like to see the ability to update from a network share. I could have a few designated computers download the updates and distribute them to network computers. Have this configurable via the INI file.
I would like to see an automatic update feature so new versions of this program can be automatically installed.

I though on my own of suggesting exactly what MikeG said. So way to go, please implement it soon. I've got broadband but I don't go online until I start the connection myself (1 Mbit ADSL modem). And it's kind of annoying because when I'm not online BOClean popups for me to start the connection. Specially since BOClean is otherwise such an extraordinarily set-and-forget program. I like the set-and-forget approach when it turns out a sit-and-relax reality, not when it's hardly better than updating manually.

I'm pretty sure this can already be done (in exactly the way you've described, if memory serves me correctly). I'll try and dig this info up, but it's ringing a really loud bell.

Update a 24 hour computer

The autoupdate setting seems to apply only a computer that is rebooted daily. Is there any way to autoupdate a computer that runs 24-7?

There doesn't seem to be. It seems that it only starts the update timer after the computer starts up and/or connects to the net.
It is similar to an issue I raised this some time ago with my laptop that is suspended every day. CBO doesn't count 'coming out of suspension' as a start up, and so with a minimum of 6 hours for an update interval, I have to have it on for 6 hours to update which isn't how I work with my laptop.
I suggested some ideas (and it isn't difficult to fix), but it wasn't deemed to be a serious issue. In my mind it is VERY serious for without regular updates the effectiveness of CBO is compromised.

I'm not sure I understand the problem. It takes about one second to right-click on the tray icon and check for an update. Since the updates come out roughly the same time every day, unless I'm missing something, how is this a serious issue?

you can adjust the time-intervals of the updates in the box beside where it says "check for updates", in BOC's "configuration".. if the minimum is 6 hours, well then it should check for an update every 6 hours.. otherwise, you can run the updater manually..

I have these settings.
This should work fine, checking one time every 6 hours should be fine.

Totally agree, my pc is running 24 hours a day. Yes I can manually check for updates but why should I if the program is designed to autoupdate.
It cannot be that hard to set it so it checks every set time period or automatically on the next boot if it misses it. I've had the program running a short period and just found out that it hasn't updated once because the computer has not been rebooted.
A disappointing surprise in a program that I have found quite good otherwise

Did you not see the post directly above yours?
You can easily set the program to update every six hours.
