Can I schedule a backup job with a network device as the destination?

Yes with an "if", no with a "but".

When setting up a scheduled backup job that has a NAS (Network Attached Storage) device as the destination, you need to nominate the NAS device using UNC naming (\\servername\foldername) in the backup job definition, rather than a Windows mapped drive letter.

If you do use Windows mapped drive letters in the job definition, you can run the backup job manually, but it is never started by the scheduler.

Thanks for forum member cjessing for confirmation.
Thanks for forum member DS-AZ for correction of UNC naming convention.
