1. is there provision to make a bootable usb or is there a need for it with CBU
2. does this program make an image of the drives and if not could you explain to me what the difference is between making image and backing it up and backing up My Computer. I'm not really sure of the differences.
3. also can I back up to a usb connected HDD.

To answer your questions:
1 - A bootable USB feature will be available, after a bootable CD/DVD will be.
2 - Yes, this program makes an image of the drive / HDD when selecting partition / disk backup
3 - Yes, you can

Thank you

First of all, why is it not possible to choose something instead of cbu file type when performing a backup of instant messenger's profile?

Because there is no other backup format available for messenger backup.

And one more thing, don't  you think that it will be more convenient to automatically choose a created folder on Step 3 when specifying a backup path?
Yes, this seems more convenient...

Thank you

Hi,

How can I save the backup settings I made (i.e. which folders and/or files I wish to backup) so that I can use these the next time I make a backup? Now, every backup I make, I have to do the whole procedure all over again (select files etc.). It must be there, but I don't see it  Huh. Thanks.

Actually, you have to select the files and folders with every backup you create.
But, you can create a 'Manually' scheduled backup to run it when you want with a simple click, without having to go through all the backup steps every time.

We will take your suggestion into consideration.

Thank you

comodo backup is good but right now the reason i will stick with another free program such as macrium reflect free or paragon free is the rescue disk.this must be put in comodo backup if it is to compete with the other free ones, keep up the good work.
welldone guys.

this is a great step towards providing fully functional, free, support and community driven backup system for all!

We would love to hear your feedback on this version pls.
your likes or dislikes...how does it compare to other backup products....

Good work guys!

For now I think that two things are missing:
1. minimisation to tray icon
2. backup options: full backup, incremental backup, etc.

And why if you create a "Files and Directories" backup (with "Simple Copy" as a backup format) and select a directory to backup (for example C:\Users\Andrzej\Documents\), Comodo BackUp creates a full directory structure in the destination place (for example G:\Backup\Documents\DRIVE_C\Users\Andrzej\Documents\)? I think that it is not necessary.

I have just installed this version and have come across a change from version 1.x.  When choosing a network share, it appears that version 2.x uses windows browsing to find the available shares.  This is fine as long as you are on a local network or have WINS configured.  I my case, I need to be able to back up to a network share via UNC (\\<ip_address>\<share>).  Is this possible with 2.x?

Thanks - Ian

UPDATE:  If  you just copy/paste in the UNC, then it works.

I hope so. This has been a basic feature in the previous version, so I don't understand why it has been removed. Meanwhile, I'll try the scheduled backup option. Thanks for the hint.

I agree.  I can see both sides; however, to maintain compatibility with version 1.x format, it would be good to  have an option to define how the directory structure is built.

Yes, this is possible.
You can type in the "\\<ip_address>\<share>" in backup step 3, at bottom right corner, in the "Save As" box.

I've tried the manually scheduled backup, but unfortunately the task is not editable afterwards. So this is no option for me.

BTW, altough I set up a MANUALLY scheduled backup, the task was performed automatically after 24 hours.

That is odd...
Can you try that again, to see if the problem persists?

Thank you

Well, I've waited another 24 hours and yes, there it was again. Comodo popped up and the manually scheduled backup was made. I didn't touch anything.

[edit] I noticed that this task was mentioned in the Vista task manager. I didn't put it there... [/edit]

The next thing I will do is to delete the task in Comodo and make another one [edit] and make sure there isn't anything in de Vista task manager [/edit], just to see if it happens again.

Ok, we will investigate this issue.

I was able to reproduce the issue. If you create a manual backup in Comodo, a Windows task is also scheduled in de Vista task manager to run every 24 hours. That's why my first created backup task ran every 24 hours. I use Windows Vista Home Premium SP2. Thanks for investigating.
