Re: Inconsistencies in dealing with own email address

CAS adds your own email address automatically to the whitelist and will not allow you to 'block' your own address. But wierdly CAS will allow you to remove your email address from the whitelist. If you do remove your own email addresss from the whitelist CAS will not let you re-add it via the GUI. But it will let you add it to the whitelist by sending a message to yourself or by importing it. Some of this may be intentional - for example the ability to remove your address from the whitelist allows you to simulate CAS authentication letter processing - but overall it seems too inconsistent to be intentional. Perhaps just need to relax the constraint on adding your own email address to whitelists via the GUI.
1. Your Operating System: XP SP3 32bit
2. Other Security and Utility Software Installed: CIS, CVE, CIV, CLP, Filezilla, Walllwatcher, Sony Ericsson PC software, Actual Window Manager, Routerstats, Revo, Process Explorer, Copernic Desktop
3. Email client: Outlook 2003 (Addins: Mailbuddy - disabled, ODIR dedupe, copernic summariser - disabled, Exchange Extensions - disabled, Redemption Helper (part of CAS?))
4. Email provider: Zen - POP3, SMTP; Gmail - POP3, SMTP
5. How you produced the problem: See above
6. How you tried to solve: N/A
7. Memory dumps: N/A
8. Any additional information: CAS version = 2.6

Summary of bugs I cannot replicate
«
Reply #16 on:

Summary of bugs reported by others in main forum since issue of CAS 2.6 (Jan 2009) that I cannot replicate either because a) I do not have the appropriate software. b) I do have relevant software, but bug does not occur. I have ommitted posts describing problems where there is good reason to believe they are caused by bugs already reported above.
1. Problems with Thunderbird

Documentation/GUI information bugs

1. Advanced screen for email account settings not documented in help file. Especially unclear what 'automatically update account settings' means.
2. The installation program should ensure people understand that CAS does not work like other anti-spam tools, and explain how it does work. THis will ensure that people install it who will benefit from it, and prevent confused support requests. The key issues are a) that CAS is a default deny or rather challenge-based spam filter b) that CAS seeks to ensure that you need never see unauthorised mail and it is never downloaded into your client - it isn't sent to a spam mail box in your client.
3. The installation program should advise people not to switch on the 'challenge/response' policy until they have checked that the people they most frequently communicate with are white listed.
4. Not sure but I think the 'only allow digitally signed emails' policy is actually a 'only allow digitally signed emails and emails from whitelisted senders, don't send challenge emails' policy. If so best to describe it as such.

Constant reminders when you turn off synchronisation

If you have been using synchronisation, then turn it off, you get constant reminders that it is turned off. One I could understand but persistant reminders seems wrong.

Please try uninstalling, running LSPFix
http://download.cnet.com/LSPFix/3000-2085_4-10417026.html
and then re-installing to correct your issue.

Keep getting access violation error when I use CAS with Routerstats
http://www.vwlowen.co.uk/internet/files.htm
. May be due to CAS or Routerstats. As message refers to the same file that appears to cause other memory leakage problems, may be a symptom of wider CAS memory leakage problem. (See other bug report posts). Is not *cause* of CAS memory leakage, as CAS memory leakage still occurs when Routerstats not running.

I'm trying to configure AntiSpam 2.6.0.0 to import authenticated senders in outlook. When running AntiSpam Configuration (Step 2 - Import Authenticated Senders), all e-mail applications are greyed-out except for Outlook Express.
1. Operating System: Windows XP Professional SP3 32bit
2. Other security software: Symantec Antivirus 10.1.500.5
3. Email client: Outlook 2007 SP2
4. Email provider: exchange (for internal e-mail), Verizon/Comcast (POP3/SMTP)
5. How you produced the problem. See above; multiple installs after, even after running System-Cleaner
6. How I tried to solve the problem - my outlook OST file is not stored in the default location. Relocated OST file to default location - did not help.
7. Memory dumps or screen shots - none
8. Any additional information - none
