Codesign fails with exit code 1 error

I have installed the comodo code signing certificate and have verified the same in keychain access. Also all of the Mac developer & app installer certificates have been installed correctly.

However when i build my app with code signing identity as Mac developer certificate i get the following error:
object file format unrecognized, invalid, or unsuitable
Command /usr/bin/codesign failed with exit code 1

I tried several workarounds for it as suggested by googling but all in vain.

Can anyone help in sorting this out?
