Has anyone posted any screenshots of CPF 3 yet?
Not sure exactly what types of screenshots you're looking for, but plenty have been posted.  You can find them if you take a stroll through this thread, or pretty much any other in this Beta Corner.  There is a thread started by (I think) user "rccblgy" that has a lot of screenshots.

When a process wants to access physical memory and disk , CFP will tell me , but I don't know the program wants to read or write , I think these two kinds of operations are different , most of reading operations could be allowed , but the writing operation is abhorrent , if CFP could differentiate these two kinds of operations , it will be helpful and useful .

Hello all, after trying for a few day the v2.4, I installed the 3.0.8.214 beta:

The first impression is that the interface is really confusing.
Nice points:
- Separation of FireWall / Defense+
- Defense+ ability to tweak exactelly what each app may do.

Bad points:
I think the ability of the final user to tweak the software and answer the popups relly on an understanding off how the Firewall does his job. The other important point is to have a limited number of popups, and the ability to find quiklly the result of your answer to the popup (to change the rule)

Each basic function off the firewall should be simple to find and configure:
- Incoming protection (and "Attack protection")
- Outgoing protection
- Sandboxing (preventing use of a thrusted app to go out for the malware.)
- Self-protection
Some "politics" function should also made clear:
- Allow All / Learn all/ Auto-learn certified / Allow only thrusted / BlockAll
( The Learn All / Learn Safe only are quite confusing even is the idea seems good...)
- The safe/local zone should be easy to set and identify

Defense+ is quite confusing:
ie: my Screen saver starts. it needs the screen (=>Popup), then hooks the keyboard (=>popup), but never asks to go the network, or stats an app to go to the network.
ie: many non-network apps goes in protected folders or register(=>popups)
I don't see the point of sandboxing every app in the system.
Nevertheless CPF3.0 seem to be a fullfeatured sandboxing app....

Noted the disparition of the sytem info and safety level in the bottom of the summary. they were usefull.

I understand this beta is quite far from a finished product, but I guess comodo conceptors should keep in mind that even advanced user, willinglly to answer many popups for the sake of safety; still need a good firewall for their children's/wife's/relatives computer.

will the final version of cpf 3 be compatible with PC Tools SpywareDoctor?? (the current beta is not compatible and states so right from installation), I'd hate to ditch what is probably the best anti-spyware on the market.
This should be compatible with the best firewall on the market since security is, of course, is what you're all about.

Edit: 32bit only.

Hey orangeman,

A temporary workaround: switch Defense+ to Learn All mode. This problems exists due to the known mising installer mode, you must click OK (with the simple Allow) all the time for the .tmp file alerts.

Edit: on my system, the sd caused high cpu usage while scanned the whole computer.

Could you add a feauture that detects all networks interfaces and lets you decide wether they are Trusted or not, instead of having to add them manually?? I think it would be a great improvement in usability and it would give you a sense of confort to know that the firewall is able to recognice all the network interfaces alive in your sistem and let you deal with them, like most firewalls do...

Thanks

and yeah SD does have quite a large footprint while scanning, a small price to pay for peace of mind

 (V)

I loved the New look of CPF 3, but I have few things to say
1. Can Comodo intergrate Comodo Memory Guardian to CPF?

Here is my log for CPF

I haven't tried v3 so don't know if it has it already, but I'd like its HIPS to have an "Install mode" like Spyware Terminator's.

And for me no tools to do all that stuff that people should manage with the browser, thanks. Smiley

hi!
sorry i am wrong in place but i didn't find a place to put this..

i'm using comodo firewall quite a while now and i appreciate every new version - v3 really rocks with defense+ -> makes the virus scan almost homeless..  Clapping
well there's still a feature i am missing.. some firewalls have an ip blocker - just another function block access to ips defined in an list.. useful to secure your system additionally or for filesharing programs.. there's a blocklist manager on the www that exports these lists for several other firewall products - but cpf doesn't use this..
never wonder.. is there a plan to include such a function at any time?

Second day I'm using the new beta and there are some things I like and dislike:
con
  • Selecting a lot of file in the 'My Pending Files' list is horrible. Being able to select a file by using the space bar and/or some 'select all' buttons would be a great addition
  • Firewall events: I'd like to see a column that tells me which rules was fired when an app was blocked
  • The new names for the different modes are a disaster imho. I prefer the previous ones
  • 'Remember this answer' is now ticked by default. I'd prefer to see an option to change this behaviour

pro
  • New summary screen is excellent
  • Improvements in the misc. settings screen are nice
  • installation mode is a great addition

I'm not sure, but I think the Defense+ system has been changed a lot since the previous beta, not ? It started to ask things again and I also asked a lot less (safe mode suddenly seemed to know a lot more apps). Btw, is there an option to change the safe apps list ? There's some annoying app I'd like to have removed.

What! Tell me it isn't so Comodo. Please let the final version be compatible with SD. Orangeman is right SD is the best anti-spyware product out now. It would be a shame that CPF and SD could not get along with each other. I love SD too much and I don't want to stick with version 2.4 of CPF because of this.

When a program wants to access the physical memory and disk , maybe CFP should tell the users the program wants to write or read .
