Hi,
I opened this bug report because several moderators and me have the opinion it must be a bug.
You can read the thread here:
http://forums.comodo.com/help_for_v3/very_slow_netbios_performance-t23941.0.html

My data:

Notebook:
Dell Latitude D520 CPU=2.20 GHz Intel® Core™2 Duo T7500 (64Bit)

OS:
WinXP SP3 fresh install 32Bit

Installed Software:
Dell Drivers
Broadcom Management Program
GT HSDPA Driver (UMTS)
Intel Proset Wireless Software
Netscreen-Remote (VPN Client from Juniper)
Quick Set from Dell

Comodo 3.0.25.378 without defense+ and without leak protection

My situation:
Netbios traffic is very slow at the moment I have installed the comodo firewall.

What I do:
I do a connect to UMTS then I start my VPN Tunnel.
I have connected about 8 network drives which I need for my work.
Now If I open my Windows Explorer I must wait about 36 seconds.
If I do this without Comodo I have to wait about 8 seconds.

If I disable the Comodo Firewall, the services and the drivers I still have the same problem (36 seconds)
Only I if uninstall Comodo the explorer opened in 8 seconds.

I have dumped the traffic.
You can see at the trafficdumps that the traffic with comodo has much more packets than the traffic without comodo. There are about 4 times more packets.

I hope the development can fix this problem or help me to get this problem solved.
Please ask if you need further information.

Attached you will find the dumps and the configuration report.

Hello Netbez,

I have little experience with the Netscreen client but i know it works totally different from the Cisco VPN client.
It installs a "dialup" interface instead of a normal network interface for as far as the versions i've seen.

Could you post a full packet trace ? this one is missing important information.

Do you use Windows Offline folders ?
Did you test with only one drive mapping to see what happens ?
Does the same delay count for browsing the share using the command box ? or only with explorer ?

I have a Dell D820 with all except a Cisco VPN instead of the Netscreen.

Hi Ronny,
the problem persists on pcs/notebooks with and without Offline Folders.
As less drive mappings as faster is it. This is logical for me because the explorer fetches at every klick the information of all drive mappings.
The command line is much faster than the explorer. But without comodo it is faster also at the command line.

Command line: ~2 sek.
Explorer: ~10 sek

Without Comodo:
Command line: ~1 sek.
Explorer: ~1.5 sek

I am absolutely sure that the problem persists at the driverstack of the comodo firewall.

Hopefully I get a bugfix in the near future.

Traces for explorerview attached
