screen position when open every browser session
«
on:
March 08, 2012, 10:13:24 PM »
This is only a
small 'bug'
on my copy and computer.
Every new browser session for the last few revisions of Comodo Dragon, when I open the Comodo Dragon browser, the position of the browser is the right-edge and bottom edge are about 2 to 5 pixels off-screen. Not a big problem since nearly all of the browser is visible and I can easily drag to center of the desk top screen.
System: Windows XP sp3, Comodo Dragon Browser 17.4.1.0 (with same bug since v 17.1).
Tell me if other system information would be helpful.

Hello,
Does you monitor have an "auto adjust" button? You could try using it and check if the problem still occurs.
Thank you.

Computer is a lapttop, Toshiba Satellite. How will I find an auto-adjust button if one is present? I am not familiar with this. (Windows XP sp3)

I assumed you had a desktop computer. Most desktop monitors have an "Auto" button which adjusts the positioning of the content on the display so it fits properly. Since you have a laptop this option is not available.
Could you check if this behavior reproduces for other windows as well? It might be related to screen resolution or graphical card driver so try running Windows Explorer windows maximized and check the results.
Open the screen resolution settings - Right click an area on the Desktop>Properties>Settings tab - and try different resolutions (the resolution should be maxed since that usually matches the display's native resolution).
Add screenshots of your resolution settings, maximized Dragon window and a maximized Windows Explorer window. Also add some information on your DPI setting : Desktop>Properties>Settings tab>Advanced.
Thank you.

This may be somewhat less than what you asked. I only used non-maximized windows. Also, I only have one installation of Comodo Dragon and it's on Windows XP, s.p. 3.
Not yet sure if I can either paste screen shots or attach as uploads...
Appears I can only upload attachments of screenshots.
High resolution = 1024 x 768. Low resolution = 800 x 600.
DPI = 96.
In order attached, CD high resolution, CD low resolution, Explorer high resolution, Explorer low resolution.
None of the windows is maximized. When I tried as maximized, each window was perfectly fit with the Windows desktop screen.

The off-set placement situation has changed, and the bottom and right-side edges are no longer slightly offscreen nor at the edges of the desktop screen. Comodo Dragon opens as almost to its fullest size and is not quite, but is almost centered on the desktop. Improvement. I'm not sure if this is due to the recent upgrade to v17.5, since I lost track a bit of the observations. Further note, I have been using CD set to open in Private Browsing mode and have been in this setting for more than a month.

Hello,
The incognito window does not save any changes made to its size and position - by design.
The easiest way to work around this is to open the "Options" menu and maximize the window. This will open the incognito window in maximized state the next time you launch Comodo Dragon.
Regards.

Not necessary. THE window that opens IS the Incognito window and is not maximized. Filling nearly the whole desktop is good enough. Currently the placement is, as I say, nearly centered, much better than several days ago. Yes, I could change the settings to make the window open as maximized, but no real need.
I wonder if an adjustment to this version has helped the earlier slight off-placement to become corrected.

Wrong! The off-placement to those same edges is happening again. Right-hand side is against the right-hand side of desktop and bottom side is against bottom side of desktop. I wish C D browser could remember placement when last opened, or there could be settings for 'remember last placement and window size when last opened'.

The small problem of screen position is now gone upon opening Comodo Browser as now updated to Version 18.0.3.0. The browser now opens not quite, but almost perfectly centered on the desktop.

Even one day after the update install, the screen position when opening C D Browser is again happening to the rightside and bottom side edges of the desktop screen.

Hello,
The incognito window remembers the position and size of the last opened non-incognito window. When you open the options/settings menu, it opens in a non-incognito window and as you have probably noticed it is positioned below and to the right of the incognito window. That is the position which the incognito window uses at the next launch.
I suggested maximizing the options window because this will prevent it from altering its position and the incognito window will also be launched in maximized state.
Regards.

I will be checking this to see how it works. I would hope the Incognito window would open in its same position if I do not use any other window during a browser session, as long I keep the browser set to always open in Incognito mode.
