Well people, I think (it worked for me) I may have found the solution...

Had the dreaded error since since updating to newest version (via Comodo's built in update service). Even if the first thing I did after rebooting the computer was trying to update virus database, I still got the error.

I then tried a clean install, meaning:
1- Uninstall CIS;
2- Reboot;
3- Reinstall CIS;
4- Reboot;
5- Update virus database;
6- Reboot;

After step 6, when trying to once again to update virus database or run virus scanner, I still got the dreaded error.

Solution: Restart the COMODO Internet Security Helper Service.
Once I did that, everything ran normally.

Hope this can help you.

p.s.: running Windows 7 64 bit Home Premieum with i7 920 and 12 GB of DDR3 on ASUS P6T Deluxe V2.

Yep. It's a bug... The cmdagent seems to turn off randomly for unknown reasons.

For example, following what I wrote in response here in this forum, and confident that the problem was solved, I started a manual antivirus scan for the whole comupter. The scan started and continued until it reached about 398 000 files checked. Then it stalled. I tried stopping the scan but couldn't do anything. Stopping the CFP process was to no avail either...

I then checked the state of the COMODO I.S.H.S. (cmdagent) and found it had stopped. I started the service and then could close the scan window. Then I relaunched the scan. This time it stalled when it got to approx 394 000 files (stalled on a different file than previously). I checked the COMODO I.S.H.S. again and low and behold, it had once again stopped ! What the ...Huh I started it back up, closed the scan window and left things at that.

Guess we're all waiting for COMODO to fix this. Anyone know of a deadline Huh Also, does anyone know if this happens in the PRO version Huh

You could at least link to the original thread if the post I wrote did help you, and not claim it for yourself. Oh well...

I have  the same problem. I think it is  an error in scanning engine  and someone  should solve it

fOrTy_7: My most sincere apologies. Embarrassed

It's true that in the way I wrote my post, it would seem that I'M trying to take credit for YOUR find. The credit is YOURS, not mine !. My intent was merely to point out that, albeit it's obvious in Task Manager (Services tab) that cmdAgent is associated to the I.S.H.S, it isn't so obvious when you open Services through Computer Management Console...

That said, again, apologies. Embarrassed
