Help me with .cav files

Hello!
I am writing a antivirus program for my university project. I have downloaded the bases.cav file. I want to know how to extract/open .cav files and also I want to get the hex strings of virus/trojans from the /cav file.
Please tell me how to do that.

What you are trying to do is illegal. Comodo database is not open source and is not to be copied. If you want to make your own AV you will have to use ClamAV I think it is one of the only open source ones.

But I need the signature of Generic26.BHDV, and I can't fine it in the ClamAV database.
