Well, yesterday, I decided to keep pressing update button. Percentage would climb to 17%...then fail. Press update..climb to 18%...then fail. Press update again..climb to 19%...then fail. I continued this until it reached 34%...then fail. Pressed update and it said virus signatures are now up to date. LOL OK, if you say so.

So today, I was able to get onto another network. Pressed update and it quickly climbed to 34% and then slowed a bunch until it reached 50%, then it did what it was supposed to do, and it looks like my virus sigs are REALLY updated this time.

Looks like just another glitch of ver.5 I have to live with.

Hey programmers, is ver.6 done yet?

Sounds more like a network issue than a glitch in CIS.

You could try manually downloading and installing the latest AV database by following the steps in this post.

Where can i download the latest full AV database?

I just downloaded Comodo and have the exact same problem when trying to update the virus definitions.  Guess I'll try a few more times before trying a new av.

Hi i haved problem with av database to. Windows XP SP3 My first comodo was CIS ver 3. then i downloaded 5 but  cispremium_installer_x86.exe make wird thinks when instaled on ver 3. showing that instaling was done, but wasnt. Then i downloaded cis_setup_x86.msi of ver 4 and it install good. But av database was unable to update. And get in on this forum, and serching. In v3 it never start updating avDB showing 5% and throw about loosing conection. In v4 start download DB ~107Mb, about while jump to others files *.cav and fail. There was some problem in registry to, that *.msi installer fixed for me.
Then i downloaded this DB manualy http://download.comodo.com/av/updates40/sigs/bases/bases.cav. I have Dialup connection realy sloow. (meanwhile instaled v5 on v4 without problems) With some advice in forum i put that base.cav in my comodo folders C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\repair & C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\scanners >in this folder i renamed base.cav (~9MB) to base.old and put that 107MB downloaded (Remember to rename that file first, my system dont let me exchange smaller file with bigger. When you succesfuly change the files Restart system. for me it works.  I dont know what will be in future, but now i have Comodo 5 with av 6475.cav. base.cav ~110MB in scaners folder. Only problem with updating, is my sloow ~4kb internet.
Regards and sorry for long storry
P.S. for v5 get http://download.comodo.com/av/updates50/sigs/bases/bases.cav I had dwnlded updates40 but i dont remember did i put that base.cav before install CIS v5 on v4 or after Roll Eyes
And i have runed Windows in normal mode when changing files.

I had the same problem, and it could not be resolved even from the livePCsupport.

With the wireshark capture it showed no packets at all at port 80 when an update was taking place.

I think it may be a problem with the CIS so that it can not find the correct internet proxy settings even when there is no proxy. The proxy settings are changed by lenovo access connections depending on the network I am.

When I input a manual proxy at the CIS configuration it started updating.

Running Win7x64.

DLed bases.cav (116MB dated 10/30/2010) and installed it in <scanners> subdirectory changing existing bases.cav to bases.old. Immediately updated and all went well. Today I noticed cmdagent.exe runing non-stop (consuming most of my dialup bandwidth) and discovered that Comodo is auto-updating - a new 112MB signature database file!

Could it possibly be that between 10/30/2010 and 11/15/2010 the existing 116MB signature database has increased and additional 112MB? Surely not and I am wondering if anyone has had this issue, which I imagine is related to the failure to update issue.

Thanks, Monk

When CIS starts it verifies the integrity of the bases.cav file, if it fails it will initiate a full download...
I'm not sure why but it seems it thinks it needs to download a full base.

Can you verify the Antivirus Events and press "More" button then check the Tasks to see what the AV update logging shows?

I'm having the same problem. My thanks to Draker in this thread on page 10 and to Ronny HERE for the information. Being that I am on dial up and it is a 123.92 MB file, I won't know how it works until it fully downloads in late April or early May. LOL

Hi All,

I had the same problem just tonight I have Win XP Pro SP3 fully up to date

Downloaded the Bases.Cav and booted into safe mode no networking rebooted xp warning dissapeared (out of date antivirus) but when I tried to update in comodo got antivirus engine failed to initialise rand diagnostic and found no problems.

Downloaded latest CIS version off comodo.com done a clean install and no joy got the same message went to more in comodo and checked for updates and it downloaded and installed a small file tried to update again no joy.

Was reading through the thread and came across Secunia PSI I installed it about 3 days ago so stopped it in both the tray icon and also in task manager you need to kill psia and sua processes as soon as I killed them tried to update again and worked perfectly

Currently running

Version  5.3.176757.1236
Virus Signature Database  7513

Can't say it will work for everyone but fixed my problem.

After having this issue in many PCs... I decide to look further.

I have a local web server in Linux that I use for update my comodo antivirus users (not all my uses have Internet access).

This issue happens when I forgot to retrieve the updates for some days.

Solution:
I need to look for the missing incremental files in my local web server and get the files missing with wget.

Background:
I run a bash script to get the incremental files, but I not very skillful is bash.
So the script just get the most recent versioninfo.ini file, parse it and get the incremental files.
But If I forgot to update for some day, then the MaxBase changed, resulting in the loss of some incremental files, causing the very same issue that is posted here for many more.

I use wireshark and I found the name of the incremental file missing, so I download it using wget.
After this, all my users can update their comodo antivirus from my local server.

My recommendation for Comodo :
a) please make an offline updater.
b) If some download fails, retry using another server... I feel that if I have more than one server for updates the Comodo updater just check the first one and not the others in the list.

Hope this helps to you moderators and users.
I love comodo antivirus (because it's free and can be uses in a comercial environment)
I only miss that comodo doesn't have an offline updater for free.

Regards

Hi s3cr3to,

Welcome to the forums!
And thanks for reporting.... It can indeed happen that a missing incremental kills the update process.
AFAIK their working on make this more robust.

Hey all...

I have finally solved the infamous update issue once and for all..

Right click on your comodo in the lower right corner

Disable the firewall

Disable the defence+

Then update..

Comodo blocks itself from seeing internet connection.

Much love and peace!

This sounds like a network issue to me. Was the AV update of CIS the only affected program?  Or were't other programs also affected?

Hi all, I have been following this thread as I have the same problem. It began after 18/08/2011 when the last update worked. I run a Vista m/c but until now had no probs with CIS. I have attempted to do the manual update from the links provided but it opens a window then comes up with 'problem loading page' message and 'the connection was rest'.

What has actually caused this? As things stand I have tried all that has been suggested but each day means I get a little more vulnerable to attacks. Has an attack caused it in the first place. I will keep looking and trying things out but any ideas please? Thanks for any help.
