A question about critcal areas and smart scan

in comodo 5.8 and before, there was a critical areas scan
in comodo 5.9 and later, the smart scan was replaced

where does the critical areas scan scan, and where the the smart scan scan? just curious because a critical areas scan usuallly takes an hour and a smart scan only takes 10 munutes.

from what i know spyware scan and critical scan of 5.8 was replaced by smart scan in 5.9the scan is faster since they have improved scanning speed a lot
