I know there is many of you out there that for some reason or another dislike PcTools but if you're looking for a suite I suggest at least checking out PcTools Internet Security. It combines a Firewall, Spyware Doctor real-time and on-demand scanning, anti-virus and spam protection. I have never tried it but I have and still use Spyware Doctor and think it's a great product. I did install the PcTools Firewall Plus on my father-in-laws PC and had no complaints from him about pop-ups or any other interactions you may find with other security software. Not to mention no signs of viruses, mal-ware or any other threats.   Cheers

I wouldn't suggest it yet...

All great points folks  Thumb Up

I`ve gotten a 3user licence for KIS 2009 so i`ll stick that on and see how it goes.

So if you read this "Salmonela" i may be asking for your advise on some things as you look to have good knowledge of the program.Only if you wan`t to obviously.

Cheers,

My personal eXPeriences ( Grin)

Bitdefender
pro = decent firewall, decent antispyware, more than good antivirus, basic optimization, pretty cheap
cons = can be resource heavy, antipishing isn't the greatest

ZoneAlarm
pro = more than good firewall, one of the greatest antivirus
cons = annoying pop-ups, pretty expensive, recource heavy

Kaspersky

pro = one of the greatest antivirus, a more than decent firewall
cons = basic suite, recource heavy

Mcafee
pro = decent antivirus, decent tune-up
cons = a bit recource heavy, basic defence, really bad firewall

AVG

pro = more than decent antivirus, not so recource heavy
cons = really bad firewall, basic suite, some FP

Norton 360 v2
pro = more than decent antivirus, firewall and tune-up
cons = expensive and however allready a bit optimized still a bit recource heavy

Panda

pro = good antivirus, basic tune-up
cons = weak firewall, really recource heavy

Eset
pro = not so recource hungry, more than decent antivirus, decent firewall (in comparison with the rest)
cons = really basic suite, antispam isn't super

Windows Live One Care
pro = decent tune-up
cons = weak firewall, antivirus, antispyware

Outpost
pro = strong firewall , more than decent antivirus
cons = also pretty basic

If I were you, I would go for Norton, eset or outpost

Update : testing Pctools Internet Security

Pro : really good antispyware, good antivirus, medium firewall
cons : recource hungry running at 179.408 kb  Shocked at the moment

but a really good suite, only don't understand why they don't put desktop maestro in it ...  Roll Eyes

Hope your happy with kaspersky (I don't understand why you didn't trial it first but ....)

Xan

EDIT : running at 21.824 kb, it seems that it lowered itself
