Hi Guys, I've resigned myself to downloading a new Antivirus while biting my nails in hope for an eventual CAVS3 release and found Rising Antivirus Free of which I'm quite impressed with, not too shabby an Antivirus. It's got guts & performance to boot. It's actually been around for some time & the improvements are worthy of attention, it scans relatively quickly & has got a slew of heavy defense mechanisms. I'll be using for a while until Comodo's new
CAVS3 makes it mark & marks it's territory among the top 10, thought I'd give you guys an option in the meantime,
for now Rising Antivirus is ranked 22nd and still advancing amongst the ranking, afterall 40,000,000 people worldwide can't be that dense in their choice along with Sony & other major asian corporations in chosing it.

Hey Vettetech, buddy try it out & post your thoughts

Sorry Xman I will not try it and there is a thread about this already. I would rather stick with well known and proven av's such as KAV,NOD32,Avira and Avast. I am running NOD32 now. Rising Free doesn't have a web shield and I like having a web shield to catch nasty's even before you download them. Have you tried Rising on the eicar test page? NOD32 wont even let me download them. Catches it as soon as I click on it.

Hi Vette, true there was a thread already, but you're wrong about web browsing protection it is included in the auto-protect tab, you're not open minded enough dude, i wouldn't steer you wrong Vette, just download and try it man it won't bite promise & then comment afterwards...
Remember me I'm a Sandboxie user...

Ok Xman I might try it. But have you tried it out on the eicar test page? What happens when you click on the eicar.com,eicar.com.text,eicar com.zip and the eicarcom2zip? Does it let you download them or does it stiop it in its tracks right when you click on it? Can you show me a screen shot? Maybe I will install it under a sandbox that way if I dont like it I can just empty the Sandbox. How many proceeses does it add? Whats the ram usage. NOD32 right now is using 41,000 K.

Under 15K unbelievable but true and no I'm not set up to post a screenshot Vette for you. Run it in Sandboxie if you've got doubts, but I'm telling you it's cool, go for it you really won't be disappointed with it's performance

Free screen shot utility. So what happens when you go to the eicar site?

Ran the Eicarcom.2 (zipped) test with right click scan with Rising Antivirus, piece of cake found it in 1 second, because it can scan into packed files containing viruses without sweating, chow Vette

Now you're talking Vette, that's spunk in my book, go for it & post back your unbiased thought on RAV
Rising Antivirus and be honest about it as usual, like I said for me it's in the meantime that CAVS3 launches official!

Ok see I am running it now. Seems pretty good but when I click on those eicar files with NOD32 it stops them dead. With Rising I can download them but when I scan them it picks it up. Nice GUI and tons of settings. Gonna play with it for a bit.

Ok running for an hour now or so. Kinda slowed up my boot up ini folder so I delete my prefetch folder and defragged my boot files. Better now. I cannot believe all the options it has. Just dont know about its detection levels compared to Avast or NOD32.

You need to be more open minded Vette! Have seen a few posts where sometimes you haven even had experience with the product before.. Don't judge a book by its cover Smiley
