Hi ya Goose17. Perhaps CAVS3 will be ready by then? Should be interesting to see how they match up.  Huh

Avast!....But it is slower on on-demand scans.

Depends on what type of scan you use. Naturally though, Avast! scans more in depth then most other AVs. And on highest settings, wow OMG I think its the only AV that scanned over 1kk files on my PC.

For on demand scans, time is completely irrelevant to me. All that matter is that the scanner is able to scan really deep, in all kinds of archives etc. That's security. Thus I like avast, doesn't matter if it takes two hours to scan...

Yes LA you make a great point. I mean Do you really want a AV that scans in 15 minutes and passes up 3 viruses? Or a scan that takes two hours and detects those 3? for me it is simple Longer the scanning... The more secure i feel.

Thanks good people - you have answered my question without even asking!  I have had BoClean on my computer almost ever since Kevin McAleavey developed it, and have it now.  It does run quietly in the background, but once it caught something nasty, and wouldn't let me boot up until I had deleted it. Now that I have just switched from dial up to DSL, I was wondering what anti virus addition to add to BoClean and to SuperAdBlocker, my other favorite.  I will try Avast. Adding one thing if Kevin ever sees this note:  Thanks for NSClean and IEClean. They are both still working beautifully.

I am now using the Avast! 4.8 beta and it works flawlessly-although it's not all there either.  Adds both Spyware Scanning and rootkit scanning to the Antivirus package.  There will be another beta out next week that adds some more features, but it is a pretty mature beta already.  Smiley

I have been using Avast till about yesterday and I have never had any complaints.
However, yesterday, i installed Comodo anti-virus and so far,I have to say that I am also happy with the comodo one.
In addition,Comodo detected a bad file left from a game,so again,I am happy with comodo as well
