Since the topic has drifted a bit, what is happening with AVG?  Have the others (Avast!/Avira) really just passed them by as they concentrated on "suiting" or do I just not frequent the right forums?

erm?
it's beta (of hotfixes, bugfixes, feature fixes, tweaks and some smaller improvements there and here from retail 4.8 )
and purpose of beta is to find bugs before going final ...
it would be disaster to repeat 4.8 again (too many bugs slipped even via ~month public beta )
tho that's nearly impossible task with 50+ million users Smiley
