Maybe CIS 4.0 will have a option of often the anti-virus updates should be.

Like a choice from every 30mins(default I'm guessing ) , a scroll down option like choosing anywhere from 1-24 hours or even every other day, etc

P.S.It would help comodo save some bandwith and network load on there end and maybe some money too

It's hard being a crooked Admin when the files won't pass an md5checksum test.  But like any other good crooked Admin it can be done, it just takes time(and lots of it) and a few aspirins

This has already been mentioned numerous times before. For example, here and here.

Setting the AV to update at user defined intervals can be indirectly achieved, but it would be better if it was built into CIS.

1. Open CIS and click ANTIVIRUS -> SCANNER SETTINGS

2. On the REAL TIME SCANNING tab, disable AUTOMATICALLY UPDATE VIRUS DATABASE BEFORE SCANNING.

3. On the MANUAL SCANNING tab, disable AUTOMATICALLY UPDATE VIRUS DATABASE BEFORE SCANNING.

4. On the SCHEDULED SCANNING tab, enable AUTOMATICALLY UPDATE VIRUS DATABASE BEFORE SCANNING and disable SHOW SCANNING PROGRESS

5. On the SCHEDULED SCANNING tab, disable SHOW SCANNING PROGRESS

6. Set up a series of scheduled scans that only scans a single innocuous file (e.g. a shortcut on your desktop) with a regularity that suits you and your environment.

I currently use this method with a series of scheduled scans set to scan a single desktop shortcut at 4AM, 8AM, 12AM, 4PM, 8PM and 12PM.

Yes, this is a workaround, but, equally, yes it works.

Hope this helps,
Ewen :-)
