I can scan these files with no problem so there must be a combination of these files and something else on your system, do you have any other security software installed doesn't matter if it's real-time or passive ?

Avira AV is also installed here, but it is not running.

These hangs started a few days ago (see my first post on page one of this thread) before the Avira was installed.

Cool, so now let's wait and see if a dev kick's in at some point.

I'd leave the folder on the exclusion list for now, or you could fiddle around with scanning folders some more for instance skip a few letter's of the alphabet and try an other folder.

Yeah, I can do this. I'll let you know what happens. Hopefully at the end of it we'll have a full list of folders that can be looked at.

Am gonna leave this for now - its a slow old process especially as each failed scan results in a five minute hang which then requires a re-boot Wink

I'll hook into this again tomorrow (unless anyone else has another approach to this issue).

I might leave this for now. As I said above its a slow old process with the system here hanging for 5 mins and then needing a reboot, each time a folder that cavscan doesnt like is accessed.

I'll sit tight and see what the devs have to say for now. It could be that the info already provided is sufficient to make some headway into this issue.

Say Hello To My Little Comodo !!!

« Reply #51 on: July 30, 2009, 03:01:14 AM »

U might have conflicting software, something about "shell integration or shell extension" don't know the whole mombo-jombo to explain to u as I'm not a computer geek, I had similar simptomes with a security software once (was hungin' and crashin') and I was advised by a friend who in fact is a computer geek to do the following:

download latest version of ShellExView (freeware software) and install it and it will show u all the software on your system that are "shell integrated or shell extensions"

u will notice many columns and one of them is named "Company" and it tells u which company is the software from

all the software that are not from microsoft except Comodo software must be selected by pointing right-click on it and select Disable or multiple using Ctrl

close the ShellExView software and reboot (can't remember if u must reboot but do it anyway)

try using Comodo scan now and see if it still hungs or crashes !!!!

This is how I got my problem solved, I use win xp sp3.

Sorry if this post doesn't make sense or for the crappy edit, I'M DEAD TIRED, must go to bed but I will come back soon !!!

Wait for an update ? It's been going on for a long, long time it appears from reading posts.
What good is a virusscan if it won't scan?
I guess that answers the question. GEt a virusscan program that actually scans.

Hi, my freshly instaled and updated Comodo Internet Security suite, free version, hangs when a full Pc scan.
Moreover, it don't stop, nor from the tray icon, only solution is to reboot the PC. This happened on TWO different and isolated PC's at home.
iS THIS A BUG?
iS There a solution?

Thanks.
Well, good luck with that. I have let tech support know about 20 times and they always respond to the email, and say they will get back to me, and they never do. I'm using the free version and obviously will NEVER pay to upgrade with this service! Very frustrating. Obviously, it's bugging a lot of members, so you would think they'd fix it! Been going on a long time, too
