Yes, update .439 fixed this virus definition database update problem for me. After updating CIS, I switched back to the Local System account login in CIS Helper Service, rebooted the computer and checked manual virus definition updating in CIS. I now get the message 'The virus signature database is up-to-date'. Many thanks to the devs. This was a very important issue. I appreciate very much that you resolved it, at least on my computer. I guess you will have to wait to hear from other users that were having this problem, but I would think they will have the same results.

i'll save the link to this thread and check back in 90 days and give it a try again.  I uninstalled commodo and installed Norton 2009 IS.  One thing i noticed immediately, is my computer now flies again.  quick boot is back, internet is fast.

this is a brand new laptop and it flew with the OEM Norton 2008 IS, but i thought is was a pita always wanting to take over my computer.  i did a few don't ask me right now/again and that's not a problem... i'll check out the features and enable them down the road.

sorry to see comodo go on my computer.  i do like the joint effort to tshoot it.  it just got to be too much.

i'll check back in a few months though

Would just like to confirm the latest build 439 has fixed the problem (for me anyway). Thanks.

Try playing with your IE Proxy settings in IE on that PC.

Version 439 still gives the problem on my XP Home SP3 PC. The other PC with XP Prof SP3 has never had the problem. No Proxy on either PC.
Changing the Logon to This Account on The Comodo Helper Service does work though.

Other Security software the same on both.

Strangely, the latest build did fix updating via proxy BUT I've noticed a couple of times that CIS has been unable to update the database. Looking in active connections, cmdagent.exe is trying to connect out using port 80 again (not 8080). This has only occured twice so I won't log it as a bug yet but has anyone else noticed this? May have been a problem with our proxy at these times Huh.

I run Vista 64, could not use AV since november ie since I changed computer and first installed CIS.
I was using .427, then tried to update to .439, could not do it so uninstalled CIS .427, installed .439, but it still does not connect to the internet (error 106) and therefor refuses to update.

any hope left (as .439 was supposed to fix that problem)?

thanks in advance
